Titan’s voice drifts over me, urging me to hang on, reminding me he’s got me, promising me I’ll be fine.

I’m confused. Why wouldn’t I be fine? I’m just sleepy that’s all.

I go back to my dreams of swimming in his gigantic pool. Morning will come soon enough, and I’m exhausted.

Bright lights pierce one eye and then the other. I try to yank away from the intrusion. Wobbly and woozy, I feel like a bobble head. I can’t seem to wake up from this grogginess engulfing me.

Titan yells from far away, but the words in my head won’t form on my tongue to ask why he’s so mad and determine who’s on the receiving end of his screaming. I want to help but my head hurts too much to think. Weariness consumes me, and I let myself sink inside the blackness again.

“We need to do x-rays. Is there any possibility she could be pregnant?”

I don’t recognize the woman speaking. My bed feels weird. Not mine. Not Titan’s. Where am I?

“Yeah.”

Titan sounds freaked out.

“Yeah, it’s possible.”

Awww. Somebody might be having a baby. That’s sweet. I’ll congratulate them tomorrow. Right now, I have to get some rest and hope that eliminates my headache.

Grrr. Something pricks the inside of my elbow, burning for what feels like eternity. I try to swat at the wasp. My arm is too heavy to lift. Finally, the sting subsides. Thank goodness. Now I can doze again for a few more minutes.

“Find Kirill. I don’t care who you have to kill or how much it costs or how long it takes. Fucking find him!”

When Titan speaks low and hard like that, he’s beyond mad. Too furious to even yell. I hate when he’s crazy with his fury. So engulfed with rage that’s dangerous to everyone, including himself. My mouth feels like a desert. I can’t even whisper. How can I figure out what’s going on when I can’t speak? I drift off again unable to stop the drowsiness drowning me.

A thunderous crash booms around me. A woman screams. Men argue with Titan. Quiet returns. I’ll just nap a little bit longer, and then I’ll get up and see what’s going on. I swear this time.

“Mr. Gallo. I mean…”

Terror vibrates in the man’s tone.

“Sir, you really can’t marry someone who’s unconscious. It’s…it’s unethical…and…and…illegal.”

“Give me the fucking pen.”

“How is her signature already on the license?”

“Get out.”

These are the weirdest dreams. I guess it’s the whiskey. Hard liquor must interfere with your r.e.m. cycle or something.

Titan’s hands stroke my finger, and his lips warm my skin. This dream isn’t so bad after all. I slip back into the abyss.

Dang it. My body throbs. Maybe I’ve been in the same position for too long. I rarely sleep on my back and need to turn over.

“Whoa angel. You’re getting your wrist tangled up in your I.V.”

Titan.

I’m so happy to be with him. It feels like forever since I’ve seen him.

“Thank God.”

His enormous hand caresses my face, and he sounds relieved.

“You’re the only woman I know who survives an explosion and wakes up smiling.”
