It’s another thing that Corey taught me. When it comes down to match time, you block everything that can be a distraction out and keep your attention on the sole reason you’re in the ring.
The three of us head out of the makeshift locker room, and I do as Corey tells me. Music is blaring, and I know what song it is. I’ve got to admit it feels good hearing it, knowing I’m heading for the ring intending to win. “You got it,” I say, getting back on my feet and start jumping side-to-side ready for the third round to begin.
Niko comes at me, and I know what he’s about to do. I move, hitting him with another one-two combo sending him back. I keep at him, and when he goes for my head, I hit him with a haymaker sending him down to the mat.I wait for him to get up, but the ref ends the fight saying Niko has been knocked out. I grin and let the referee raise my arm, declaring me the winner. The crowd goes wild with cheers.
Corey and Rhett join me, along with Haven, who jumps into the ring and throws herself at me. I laugh and wrap my arms around her, holding her to me.
“You won,” she yells over the crowd.
“Damn right I did.” I laugh.
I turn to Rhett and have him remove my gloves. Once they’re off, I hold Haven to me and exit the ring, making her squeal when I lean forward to go through the ropes without letting her go. I don’t waste time getting her back to the locker room. After everything and waiting for her, I can’t wait any longer. I need to be inside her.
