Because she longed to be seen, but on her terms.

Her life was a bustle of reporters and people seeking the latest soundbite, asking her questions about her mother, and not seeing her as her own person; her kink made complete sense to him.

Nick hovered over a shot of them with his father in the middle from one morning when they had left Laurent Industries.

There were a few people in the photo, people going to work in the downtown street, and a couple behind them. Nobody really stood out to him, and if Axis Management hadn’t solved it by now, he didn’t think he’d solve who was behind the threat to Mulberry in a few moments.

So many pictures, not just from official sources but what he found from fans on social media.

He quickly set a search and left it to run.

Sighing, he knew he had to leave this room and get on with the day, but he liked it here with the machines and the quiet.

And by staying in here, he avoided the pretty strawberry blonde woman he fucked last night.

Ridiculous, he scoffed.

But yeah, he was feeling nervous about facing Mulberry the morning after.

Most girls he brought home didn’t even make it to breakfast; if they did, it was a hurried grab the clothes from the floor affair.

Closing the door, he smiled, hearing the high beats float from the kitchen.

At first, her drumming playlist had annoyed him; now, he found it endearing like so many things that had bothered him about Mulberry.

He had grown to like organic oat milk and seeing his fruit bowl piled high.

He paused in the kitchen entrance for a moment, watching as she danced around, stirring a bowl of something.

Wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt tied in a knot at her waist, she moved her hips in tune with the beat.

Her mess of hair was clipped back in some kind of bun.

“That’s a pretty picture,” Nick said.

She startled for a moment before a sly smile crossed her face.

He stalked over, taking the bowl of batter from her and putting it on the counter, then placed his hands on her hips.

“And I like to dance, so I couldn’t refuse the invitation last night,” she said.

Nick laughed softly. “I’m glad that happened. But no more sneaking out on me, okay?”

Her cheeks sported a spot of pink, and she nodded. “Okay.”

“Good.”

The electricity crackled between them, and he stepped behind her, wrapping her in his arms.

Having her in his arms felt so right.

He tipped her chin and kissed that pretty mouth of hers.

His tongue twirled around hers, slowly inhaling the taste of her lip balm and mint.

She moaned as his hands caressed her back and roamed over her ass.

“Nick!” she squealed as he hoisted her and set her on the counter.
