“Easy,” Julian soothed. “You’re a completely different person now, Ally, and you’re so much stronger. You’re going to be an amazing mom.”

“Every time I close my eyes, I see myself swallowing all of those pills that day,” I choked out. Christian tightened his arms around me. I sobbed, my free hand latching onto his arm, holding on to him.

“Ally, darlin’, you’re one of the strongest people I know,” Julian soothed. “You’re going to give birth to a healthy, full-term baby, and you’re going to be an amazing mom, and you’re going to make Christian a fucking happy as hell dad. I plan on spoiling the fuck out of my little niece or nephew.” A small smile tilted my lips. He grinned at the sight of it. “You’re going to take care of yourself, Ally. Keep pushing forward; don’t ever give up. Lean on Christian. He loves you, Sis. Let him love you.”

“Okay,” I whispered.

He smiled at me. “Get some rest. I need to call Meghan. Call me if you need me,” he told me, his voice becoming a bit sterner as he said the last part.

“I will,” I assured him.

I set my phone on the nightstand and rolled over to face Christian. He leaned down and kissed me, his lips wiping everything out of my mind for a moment. He then tucked me close to his body, his chin resting on the top of my head. “I just want to lay here with you for a little while.”

“I’m trying,” I croaked.

His arms flexed around me. “I know, my moon. Just let me breathe life back into you. We’re going to make it through this, and when we do, you’re going to shine so fucking beautifully that you’ll blind everyone with that perfect as fuck smile.”

Ally

Christian sat beside me at the bar and picked up a bite of the pancake, holding it up to my lips. With a small, resigned sigh, I allowed him to feed me. He gave me a small smile. “You’re doing good, beautiful.”

I shook my head as I chewed on the bite of pancake. “I’m failing at this,” I told him once I finished swallowing my food.

He softly kissed me before he leaned back and picked up another bite of pancake. “You got out of bed this morning without me having to force you, and you took your medicine. You even got a shower with me, baby. You’re not failing. You’re pushing through; you’re climbing. Just keep climbing.”

I held my hand out for the fork, my hunger finally making itself known. The proud smile that tilted Christian’s lips as he handed me the fork had me smiling back at him. He kissed me. “There’s my moon. You’re going to glow; I promise.”

I drew in a deep breath and began eating. Caiden pressed a kiss to my temple as he moved past me to go into the kitchen. “I rented some movies,” Caiden told me as he grabbed the orange juice out of the fridge and poured himself a glass. “I thought a day of movies and junk food sounded like a plan.”

Christian shrugged on his blazer as he got ready to leave for work. “What kind of movies?” I asked Caiden after I swallowed my food.

“Sappy ass romance movies.” He grinned. “The Notebook is one of my favorites.”

“You like romance movies?” I asked him. I hadn’t expected that—not from him.

He grinned. “Girly, I love romance movies. I used to drive Christian nuts after a break-up watching them.”

Christian laughed. “Bro, you always cried like a baby. I kept telling you that you were going out with dicks.”

Caiden shot him a deadpan look. “They were men. Of course, they were dicks.”

Christian rolled his eyes as he shot me a smile. I returned it. “Not all men are dicks, right, my moon?” My cheeks burned as my smile widened. He kissed me. “Shine, beautiful. I’ll be home before you know it.”

“I love you,” I told him as I reached up to cup his cheeks. I pressed my lips to his again. He growled as he stepped between my legs, pulling me closer to him. “I’m going to do my best,” I promised him when I slowly parted our lips.

He gave me another quick kiss. “That’s all I ask, beautiful. I have to go. Text me. Call me if you need me.”

“I will.”

He pointed a finger at Caiden. “Take care of my woman.”

Caiden rolled his eyes. “Go to work, Christian.”

I giggled. Christian flashed me a sexy smirk before he turned and walked out of the house, shutting and locking the front door behind him. I finished my pancakes, and Caiden talked my ear off about a hot guy he’d flirted with at the supermarket a couple of days ago. When I finished eating, Caiden stuck my plate and fork in the dishwasher. “Movie time!” he cheered.
