Calen, Charlie, Jaehan, Billy, Sylvia, Mich, and Lora all made up a badass team of individuals who were able to do what they wanted— which was to help other creatures. Anne was still a wonderful secretary, and much more relaxed now that a demon wasn’t breathing down our necks.
Then there was Art. He was a great boss. He was able to finally sink into his strengths and to work on other things, finding a rhythm that worked best for him.
Then there was Inferna, a great leader to all of us. Fearless, smart, sassy, fun, and incredibly kind.
Stepping down had been the best decision I had ever made for myself. I finally felt… happy with my life. Sylvia, Anne, and I had finally bought a new house with the perfect amount of space for the three of us— and were getting ready for a trip to the beach in a couple of weeks.
When I had started Warts & Claws, I had wanted to create the type of environment I got to work in now. I had wanted work-life balance, good benefits and pay, and to provide everyone with HR support who actually cared.
I was finally able to see that through.

Everything else had been built from the ground up.
