“Seven thousand…not bad…do I hear seven and a half?” the emcee asked looking at Angie.

“Seven and a half,” she agreed.

“Nine,” Stacey stated as Jake smiled more.

“Ten thousand,” Angie said glaring at her.

“Fifteen,” she countered shooting a look at the girl knowing she couldn’t touch it. Ten was out of her price range if she could even begin to scrape it together.

“Alright, fifteen thousand,” their emcee said laughing. “I’ve got fifteen going once…fifteen going twice…and for fifteen thousand dollars our man Jake has the pleasure of the lovely Stacey’s company for the ball.”

The audience applauded as he hopped off the stage and headed towards her.

“I thought you weren’t going to bid on me,” he stated stopping beside the table.

“And let her have you all night? Not in this life,” she replied standing up. “You really don’t play fair though, flirting with the one person I can’t stand to make me jealous.”

“You wouldn’t talk to me baby; had to know I’d get to spend the night with you somehow.”

“I think you made your point quite clear Jake,” she said with a smile. “Question now is, are you going to be a real Southern gentleman and thank me properly from saving you from a night of vapid hell?”

“What’d you have in mind Cee?”

“I think you know,” she replied as he pulled her towards him and covered her lips with his.

“Mmm,” she sighed when he finally lifted his head. “When is this damned night going to get over?”

“Why baby, somewhere else you’d like to be?” he asked cupping the back of her head in his hand.

“In bed with you, right now,” she admitted.

“I’ve still got a room upstairs.”

“Then what the hell are we waiting for? Let’s go pay and get out of here,” she stated.

“Right behind you Cee, right behind you,” he said pulling her back against him letting her feel how much he agreed with her request.

They were almost to the table to write out their checks when a large group stopped them.

“So, now we know why you wanted to stay in Seattle,” Moses laughed.

“Now you know, you all know Cee already so why don’t you excuse us so we can pay and get out of here?” Jake replied.

“Stacey, I thought you didn’t date jocks,” Tristan said looking at her pointedly.

“What are you doing here?” she questioned in return.

“We brought him to keep us from going over our limits,” Lisa answered. “How long has this been going on?”

“For roughly eleven years,” Jake stated.

“What?” Celia gasped. “I thought you two met at Emma and Miles’ wedding.”

“Nope, I hadn’t seen him in eight years.”

“That’s how long you’ve been playing football, isn’t it?” Tristan questioned.

“I’m sure it’ll all come out since someone can’t keep his mouth shut,” she began.
