“It’s not crazy, I let Cee go once and if I had to give up football in order to get her back now, I’d do it. Don’t let that make you all worry that I won’t play my heart out for you because I will, in fact I’ll probably be playing better than ever since she’s back in my life.”
“We heard rumors about you, the entire industry heard whispers that the reputation was fake because you were hiding something,” Vic stated.
“Well, that’s because the reputation is fake. Trust me there’s no way I’d play the way I do if I’d slept with half of those women, but it’s always been Cee for me. The first time I worked up the nerve to ask her out was almost an utter failure. She’s the best thing and I let her go thinking it’d be better for her, but it wasn’t. Now that I’ve got her back I’m not letting go again.”
“Even if she’s pushing you away?” Rob asked. “The guys have talked…”
“She’s worried what will happen when I go back but I hope that this shows her how serious I am. She’s my world and football is my fuel. I’ll have my ring on her finger before we get a Super Bowl one to bring home this winter.”
“Now those are some big predictions,” Vic stated laughing.
“Even if you have been the QB behind five of the last seven Super Bowl wins it’ll take more than just that to win it,” Rob added.
“Ah but I’m not the only one who wants it,” Jake replied.
“Alright we’ll make you a deal,” Nelson stated. “If you don’t get Stacey to marry you and we don’t win the Super Bowl you have to take over the duties of assisting the Women’s Auxiliary League.”
“And if he wins?” Vic asked.
“I won’t need anything when I win because I’ll have my Cee back, so you’re on,” Jake stated shaking hands with the group. They walked him towards the exit, and he laughed when they ran into Gary, Leroy and a couple others.
“What are you doing here? Trying to steal our plays?” Gary questioned shaking hands with him.
“Well, announcement comes out tomorrow morning,” Jake said looking at the others.
“What announcement?” Leroy asked.
“The one that says, ‘Star NFL QB traded to Seattle’,” Rob stated.
“What?” Gary said as the others stared in disbelief. “You’re leaving New England for us?”
“Why?” Thomas added.
“Cee, she’s here and that’s the only place I want to be.”
“You’re coming here for the chick from the auction?” Cade asked.
“She’s not a chick she’s my Cee so tonight it’s hands and eyes to yourselves because if you so much as gawk at my girl or make her uncomfortable I will rearrange your face and the first game you’ll find yourselves flat on your backs.”
“Damn she must be a tiger in bed,” Drew stated with a smirk.
“Easy Jake,” Gary said cutting between them. “Stacey’s a great girl and comments like that will not help us win a championship, Jake’s got five of them, you want one then you’ll leave his girl alone.”
“If anything, you should probably bow down and thank her,” Leroy added.
“She doesn’t know yet I plan on telling her later tonight so until tomorrow it’s lips zipped,” Jake stated. “I’ll see you all tonight.”
“Okay how’d you all manage to pull this one off?” Gary asked Vic.
“He came to us, we can’t offer him what New England was, but he didn’t care.”
“He took acutto come to us?” Cade stated.
“Three point two million a year cut,” Nelson replied.
“Alright the chick is hot but that much of a cut?” Drew said in shock.
