“You’re okay with me and Lucca being friends?” she asked needing to know he would be.

“As long as he knows you’re mine.”

“He’s always known it Jake; he’s known it longer than you have,” she promised with her kiss.

“Mmm,” he groaned holding her tightly as she buried her head against his neck. “Cee…baby…”

“What?” she asked leaning back slightly.

“I’m sorry for being a jealous jerk. I saw red and overreacted.”

“Just apologize to Lucca; he’ll be okay as long as you make me happy.”

“I promise to do that over and over and over again,” he stated pulling something out of his pocket. “I was waiting for this to be resized, so it wouldn’t fall off your tiny fingers.”

“Jake, I don’t need another ring,” she said seeing it. “I’ve still got the other at home.”

“This is for us now Cee, this is the promise for the future not the past leading us here,” he said lifting her hand. “I’ve asked you this it seems like a million times but Cee, baby, will you marry me? Will you be my wife and let us discover the best things life has from here forward?”

“And I feel like I’ve said yes half a million times,” she said with a grin. “Yes Jake, I’ll marry you. I’ve never wanted anything else.”

“Good,” he laughed sliding the ring onto her finger.

She looked at the huge stone and shook her head. “I think I’m going to need to keep Rice around to protect this thing.”

“I’ll protect you. I’ll always protect you,” he whispered against her lips.

It was a long time before they finally headed back to the others hand in hand. She saw Lucca and waved shooting Jake a glance as his hand tightened on hers. “Relax, he’s not going to do anything,” she told him.

“Not as long as I’m alive that’s for sure,” he said against the top of her head as he hugged her against him.

“Jake, this is Lucca,” she said when he stopped beside her and dropped a kiss on her cheek.

“Lucca,” he said shaking hands with the man.

“I see you two worked things out. I take it I don’t have to worry about a knife being thrown at me?” Lucca stated.

“Long as you know she’s mine we’ll be good,” Jake told him.

“I’ve known that for years man, took you long enough to figure it out though,” he countered. “So when’s the wedding?”

“Soon as I can get this girl up the aisle,” he stated.

“Well I just thought I’d throw it out there that my dad’s ordained to perform weddings,” Lucca said with a grin. “Just so you know naturally.”

“Thanks Lucca but I don’t think we can arrange it that quickly,” she laughed.

“Says who?” Jake asked. “All you need is a dress, leave the rest to me.”

“It takes more than a day or two to get a dress, license, and everything else Jake.”

“Yeah? Well then how about a month?”

“I could work with that,” she agreed.

“I take it I’m going to be invited?” Lucca asked.

“Absolutely,” she stated before he walked away and let her discuss plans with Jake. “Where do you want to do this?”
