“I love you Jake.”

“I’ve always loved you Cee, always,” he promised.

“So how does it feel?” Emma asked as they waited for the game to resume.

“How does what feel?” she replied glancing down at her friend’s swollen stomach.

“Being here with Jake, married with the entire country knowing the story now…”

“Who cares what the world thinks. I have Jake and he loves me isn’t that enough?”

“I don’t know you tell me,” Emma stated.

“Well, it’s fine. A real love story,” she laughed, “one that’s continuing to a new chapter too.”

“Really—and how’s that?”

“Well you know what they say,” she said with a shrug as the team hit the line. They were down by four and needed a miracle to pull off the win. She watched Jake get the ball and look for the open man. It wasn’t happening and she saw him dodge an opponent as he took off down the field.

“Come on,” Emma said as they stood up, her a bit slower than Stacey but she was just as excited about it.

Jake changed directions heading further towards the end zone as the clock counted down. He saw the blocker coming his way but luckily he was knocked out of the way by Gary and he dove over them landing in the end zone as the clock hit zero.

“Yes!” Stacey cried hugging Emma and Miles until Jake had security get her and take her down to them, the rest of the night completely insane as they celebrated.

“So what were you saying earlier at the game about you know what they say?” Emma asked looking between her and Jake as they sat in the hotel suite.

“Oh right, well it’s that same little ditty,” she teased with a grin looking at her pregnant belly.

“Oh my god! You’re pregnant?” Emma said and she nodded.

“What?” Jake asked looking at her in surprise.

“You didn’t know?” Emma asked him as they turned to look at her.

“I just found out, the doctor confirmed it before we flew down and I didn’t want him distracted by the news,” she said looking into his eyes. “So, now that you’ve won this latest bet, what’s next?”

“Spoiling my gorgeous wife and making sure nothing happens to our little miracle.”

“I like the sound of that,” she stated as Emma and Miles excused themselves.

“You wanted to wait until after the game to cheer me up in case we lost, didn’t you?”

“It was a longshot to win today,” she teased.

“Nope today was easy baby, you were the only longshot I ever had to work at winning, but I did. It took longer than any game because I was playing for keeps.”

“But I won you first,” she said as he lifted her carrying her into the bedroom.

“Naturally, you’re the best thing in my life. I could go back to Seattle with you tomorrow and be happy just having you come home to me every night.”

“What about me and baby?”

“Even better,” he said grinning as he kissed her stomach. “We really did it? There’s really a tiny piece of you and me in there?”

“There really is and in approximately seven and a half months they’ll be here with us.”

“They?”

“Oh I didn’t mention that? Yeah there’s two according to the ultrasound, tiny barely noticeable but they’re there.”

“Well then you deserve double the bliss tonight, don’t you?” he asked kissing her until they could only talk with their eyes and breaths.

She fell asleep listening to his heart beat with hers. She finally had everything she’d ever wanted, and it was all just beginning.
