“MaryCat had a plan.”

I rubbed my eyes. “Are you going to repeat everything I say?”

“Maybe. When it feels like you’re speaking words that make sense. What kind of plan did your two-day bride have?”

“One that’d stop us losing our heads to the Irish.”

“We could take them.” He pshawed.

“Could we though?” I inserted softly. “Without losinganybrothers?”

Rex was one of the most intelligent men I’d ever come across. Not only that, hecared. Under his rule, fewer men had gone to jail and had lost their lives while serving the Sinners, and I knew that was because of our Prez who reasoned first and acted second.

“What was her plan?”

“Well, I told you that the Points have an issue with their lower ranks.”

“The rape issue.” He grunted, and I heard the sound of him cracking his knuckles in the background. “I remember. I have to say, that doesn’t sound like O’Donnelly Sr. He’s a headcase, sure. Crucifies those he hates, but otherwise, he leaves women out of his business. You know what happened to his wife changed him.”

“Made him crazier,” I muttered.

“Yeah, with enemies. Not with their women. Never heard of enemies’ women being mistreated by the Points.”

“No,” I agreed, because I hadn’t either.

“You’re saying O’Donnelly Sr. doesn’t know about any of this?”

“MaryCat didn’t think so. She thought he’d stop it if he knew.”

“And that was her plan? To go to him and to tell him how his house of cards is built on women’s misery?”

“More like she was going to tell his wife. But shit derailed. When I dropped her off at the compound, she met with Conor O’Donnelly.”

“The computer guy.”

“Yeah. Him. He got his brothers involved. Mostly, they’re just happy that she’s safe, but they were stunned to hear what MaryCat had to say. They want to help.”

There was silence on the other end of the line. Then… “I’m listening.”

“How do you feel about going into business with the Five Points?”

Rex scoffed. “Yeah, I can see that happening.”

“They have something in mind. They ain’t said what, but I can see it. And,” I admitted, “I told you last month about their business with the Rabid Wolves. They’re filtering drugs through Canada.”

“You did,” he concurred. “You think it’s related to that?”

“I think so. Those fuckers aren’t reliable anyway. You and I both know that. Getting their gear up to the border could be something we take over, and we have better distribution routes too. So long as the Wolves deal with the border crossing, our risk is minimal.”

“What makes you think Senior would be interested?”

“Ain’t me who thinks so. His sons do.” I thought it was wise not to mention Conor O’Donnelly’s belief that the Points would beat us in a war…

“This is all supposition until it’s not. You want to put O’Donnelly Sr. and me in a room to talk business then I’ll do it.”

“You still got Points outside the gates?”

“No. I wouldn’t have told you to come home otherwise. Her father’s here though. Parked outside. He ain’t left.”
