Mary Catherine: I love you too, honey. Enjoy your freedom and if you can, take a picture when you shove two fingers in your MIL’s face.

DIGGER

LOVESTAIN - JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ

TWO WEEKS LATER

“MaryCat,I need you in the kitchen, please!”

At my holler, I heard the stomping of footsteps from across the house as well as, “I know, Sarah. I know. But we can’t celebrate that he’s dead in public. It’d look weird.” She snorted. “Yes, we care. You’re still a part of the Points! I don’t have to care—” A pause. “I donotsound smug. I do not!”

“She did.”

Hiding a grin, I shot Sin a look. “She did.”

MC loved being a Sinner—got it.

That was when a sharp gasp sounded from the doorway.

“You let go of him!” MC demanded, racing over to us where Sin had me in a headlock that I wasn’t fighting.

Why would I?

He was her brother.

Some shit was sacrosanct.

“Mary Catherine,” Sin rumbled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you in the flesh.”

“Oh. You’re… Padraig? I-I didn’t recognize you with the beard.” I saw her shuffle from one foot to the other. “Can you please let my husband go?” She huffed. “I need to stop saving you from these situations, Digger. I mean, Rex warned me, but—”

“What situations?” Sin grumbled, squeezing me tighter until I was literally choking around his hold.

Unlike with O’Donnelly Sr., MC showed no fear as she slammed her cell on the counter.

One second, Sin was concentrating on squeezing the air out of my lungs, and the next, he was on his knees, cupping his dick.

To me, she clutched at my cut and mumbled, “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

I wheezed a little. “I’m fine. I’m fine.” I rubbed my throat as I fell on my ass. “He was just showing that he cares, MC.” And it was cute as fuck that she thought I needed help defending myself.

Shit, she was fucking cute all-round.

My pocket-sized, ball-busting princess.

She frowned as she crouched in front of me. “Cares about who?”

“You,” Sin croaked, slowly rocking forward on his knees until his forehead was against the ground.

Still rubbing my neck, I muttered, “You never thought to treat your dad to this bag of tricks you have up your sleeve?”

Her eyes were big. “No.”

“Why not?”
