“At first,” I admitted, “it was about you. Then, she was sweet. Kind. Gentle.” I grinned then repeated, “She pulled a gun on Aidan fucking O’Donnelly for me, man. What about that isn’t there to like?”

Sin frowned but tugged on my hold.

With another warning look, I let go. “She’s too good for this world.”

“She’d disagree. It’s not like I’m going to stop her from going to school,” I pointed out, not wanting to admit that he’d insulted me. “It’s not like she ain’t happy here. You heard her yourself—she’s proud to be with me.”

Sin’s frown deepened. “It’ll never work. Just look at how shit went down with my dad and her mom.”

“Her mom’s your mom too.”

“Barely. Egg donor, more like.”

“You don’t know her, Sin. I know her better than you do.” I studied him. “You can’t tar her with the same brush as your mother. She isn’t her.”

Sin surprised me by not arguing further. He just shook his head and offered, “You can stay here until you find somewhere to live. I’ll bed down at the clubhouse.”

“Thanks, brother,” I said, watching as he stiffly clambered to his feet. Before he could leave the kitchen, however, I called out, “Not every woman is like your mom, Sin.”

He flipped me the bird over his head.

“MC wanted to invite you to Christmas dinner,” I hollered, knowing he was storming toward the front door. “Don’t fucking disappoint her, asswipe.”

A few minutes later, I heard the rumble of his bike and smirked to myself at the image of him holding the peas to his junk as he rode toward the compound.

That was when MC peeped her head around the corner. “He left?”

Nodding, I beckoned her over, and she dropped to her knees then tucked herself into my side. She was, I’d come to learn, even more of an affectionate little thing than she’d been at the start.

I was surprising myself with how much I enjoyed the way she’d stick fast to me—especially in bed.

“Jerk. I meant it when I said I wanted to restart our first meeting.”

I draped my arm over her shoulder. “You didn’t have to knee him in the balls, MC.”

She arched a brow at me. “He was choking you.”

“You’re his sister.”

“He didn’t like me.”

“You’d just kneed him in the balls.”

“No. I could tell. In his eyes.”

“He was in pain. And you’d just kneed him in the balls.”

She huffed. “BeforeI did that. I saw it.”

“Sin’s weird around women. Your mom saw to that.”

That had her grimacing. “I can’t blame him, then. She’s a piece of work.”

I hummed. “Thank you for defending my honor. Again.”

Her grin was mischievous. “You’re welcome. Again.” Her eyes twinkled. “I think you like that I pulled a gun on Uncle Aidan.”

“Oh, I do.”
