“Ain’t fucking her for her personality.”
When he strode off, I muttered to Digger, “We need to find him a nice girl.”
“We really don’t.”
“We do! He’s not going to find any peace with the likes of Kendra.”
“Your brother’s got a lot of issues.”
“No. Youdon’tsay,” I mocked. “Seems to me that everyone in the Sinners has issues.”
“That’s probably why we get along so well,” he teased.
Maybe it was.
Each brother, I’d come to learn, had their quirks. Some were kind behind the brutish looks, and others were grumps to their core, but that didn’t mean they weren’t worth getting to know.
Just like my husband, still waters ran deep.
Digger’s art skills, for example, continued to blow my mind. And whenever I watched him retrieve a simple notepad and a number two pencil, something sighed inside me because he was comfortable enough around me to work on his art. To show me when he’d completed a magnificent piece that he’d created with middle-school materials.
I smiled at nothing, accepting that I was the lucky woman who got to see beneath the cut.
“But you’re right. Kendra’s a bitch.”
“Damn straight she is.” She was the worst of all of them.
“She hasn’t tried anything with you?”
Confused, I asked, “Tried anything?”
“To fight you?”
My eyes widened. “To fight me? No.” Sheesh.
Before I could pepper him with more questions, because this conversation could only mean that I hadn’t heard the gossip about a catfight, Link cuffed Digger on the arm. “She has legs, you know.”
“Trust me, I’m aware. Maverick won’t come down?”
Link scoffed. “No.”
“I was hoping one of the whores would convince him.”
“Whores aren’t convincing,” I inserted. “Honestly, you guys think you know so much but you don’t.”
“Little bit,” Link teased, “we know plenty.”
“Yeah, but not aboutthat.” I harrumphed.
“Why you carrying MC?”
I rolled my eyes at Steel’s inquiry. “Because he wants all the blood to rush to my head.”
“Why? Does that make for better orgasms?”
Digger chuckled. “I dunno. I’ll leave it to you to run those experiments, Steel.”
“You can kill a person by hanging them upside down like that.”
