She went back to the list on her phone. “West Valley Mining.”

“No.”

“BioRise Pharmaceuticals.”

Silence.

She looked up.

“You have your answer.”

“BioRise hired Brock Marsh to kill Grant Warwick?” she said. “Why?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

“But you know.”

He shrugged. “I don’t care.”

Nothing he told them—or that they guessed—was going to get them a warrant. Nothing was going to get them a foot in the door of a multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical company.

But itwouldget her in the door to talk to Franklin Archer.

And now...she understood why Tommy reached out to Grant. It wasn’t because Grant was Chase’s father, it was because Grant had access to Archer Warwick client files.

Someone had to pay Brock Marsh. Perhaps it was those records that Tommy needed to make the connection.

But what did any of this have to do with the Potomac Bank robbery?

“Thank you for your time, Mr. Grey,” Charlie said.

“One more question,” Regan said. “Did Brock Marsh hire Michael Hannigan to rob Potomac Bank two years ago?”

It made sense. They hired his brother to kill Grant; they hired Michael to rob the bank. It was the why that eluded her.

“Wrong question.”

Too specific? She asked instead, “Was Michael Hannigan hired to rob Potomac Bank?”

“Yes.”

“Did Brock Marsh hire him?”

“No.”

That surprised her.

“Did BioRise hire him?”

“No.”

What the hell? Who else?

Charlie asked, “Did Franklin Archer hire Michael Hannigan to rob the bank?”

Grey smiled. “Yes, yes he most certainly did.”

“And,” Regan said, “Becca Johns was his inside person at the bank.”
