That lil fiancé of his, her hair might be bad…but I know her cat probably got him sprung.

Gross.

Come out.

Staring at my phone, my thumb hovered, feeling my sister’s judgement from the other end. That’s so far. There’s traffic.

All I could think of was binging my next show, and drinking up some good wine before bed.

I haven’t seen you in nearly two months. Please come out.

The sad face emojis did it. Guilt started to set in and I finally agreed. I finished typing up my long email relaying to the owner of a car company— that DeLuca Tech was interested in purchasing— that we would like to schedule a meeting for the first of the year. Rolling my neck and giving a slight stretch I was just about to stand when the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my life approached. I was only slightly startled when I remembered Henry our night security was about to come on shift.

“Hi,” he nodded.

His head was closely shaved and one of his dark brows was pierced. He had on a hoodie beneath a leather jacket.

“Mmm, hi, how can I help you?”

“I was hoping to catch Mr. DeLuca before he left,” he smiled again, and I noticed how white his teeth were.

My body was responding because the guy was very good looking. His eyes were a dreamy brown, and his lips were a little on the full side. Tattoos peeked from under the t-shirt he wore.

Nice for biting, I thought.

“Really?” I had to snap myself out of a stupor.

“Yeah, I called last week and the assistant, said I could stop in and speak with him,” the guy started to look around.

Shaking my head, I blew out a breath. “That was Penny. She doesn’t usually fill this role, I’m Mr. DeLuca’s assistant. I was out of the country last week.”

“Yeah, it was about a job interview. It was for a tech position they have open.”

“Mr. DeLuca’s left for the day and I didn’t have any notes about it when I came in on Monday,” I bit my lip and watched as disappointment crossed the guys face.

“Damn,” he let it slip. “Just my luck.”

“I’m sorry,” I told him.

“It’s alright. My names Tobias by the way,” he extended his hand.

I shook it. “Nice to meet you, I’m Nora.”

“Well Nora,” he turned and started backing away. “I guess I’ll be seeing you around if I can get that interview set back up, maybe even get the job.”

He gave a wave and departed. My phone dinged again as I gathered my jacket from the back of my chair and I saw that Rain was telling me I’d better have my ass on the way. Making a face, I texted her back and headed out into the chilly air of the parking deck. My black Porsche sat waiting.

Traffic had been a nightmare but I arrived at Noir and parked relatively close. Rain came out to meet me, and she was a shivering mess despite the blue and white sweater dress hugging her curvaceous figure. My sister had a better body than me and she knew how to use it.

“You could’ve stayed inside,” I told her as she hugged me.

“Girl, it is to many women going missing round here lately.”

“What?”

“Yes, baby girl Seattle got themselves a little serial killer running around on the loose. Another body was found about two hours ago.”

A shiver caught me and we started walking to the club. I looked over my shoulder and made sure that my Porsche was locked up. I only felt secure when I saw the lights flash to let me know she was locked up good and tight.
