She poked her head in from her balcony, her nose scrunched up. “What?”

“Nothing,” I said calming down instantly at the sight of her. “What are you doing?”

She shook her head and pointed to the phone. “Caterer, making sure all the food is set up at the venue Brie chose.”

Smiling and satisfied, I went back and got dressed. I’d only left Nora completely alone at home for maybe an hour or two this week and it was to go back to my loft and grab the Armani suit for tonight. Of course she was alone at work, but I was never too far away in case Sebastian needed me. I had three good suits and Sebastian had asked me to dress nice.

Sebastian had not been joking either. He wanted to please Brie and I understood that on a new level about pleasing someone you cared about.

“Babe,” Nora called out. “We’ve got to go!”

I checked the time before hollering back. It was nearly seven thirty and she was in event planner mode. “I know!”

Checking my reflection one last time, the dark suit molded to my body I decided I looked presentable. Nora had even made me get a haircut and I’d trimmed up my beard.

Stepping out into the living room, I found my matching loafers and stepped in them. Nora took me in, tapping her lip with an ink pen she’d been writing with.

“Damn… you clean up nice…” she grinned.

This time Nora and I drove separately because I needed to run over the security specs for the venue again. Sebastian was taking no chances on anything concerning his family anymore and I didn’t blame him.

My eyes scanned over the guest list, and I knew most of the people on the list. Some names I didn’t know but seeing as the last name was Dutton, I knew it was some of Brie’s family members. Sebastian’s aunt Phoebe Deluca-Carswell, and her sons Maxton and Severus who were around the same age as Sebastian and Gisella were going to be in attendance as well.

My eyes ran over Gisella’s name on the list again as well.

She’d called me earlier in the day but I simply hadn’t answered the call knowing I’d see her tonight anyway.

Sebastian and Brie arrived late to their own party, though no one seemed to mind. They were so in love and you could tell they’d been fucking like rabbits and that was the reason for them being late. I turned myself into a shadow because parties had never really been my thing. Sebastian left Brie’s side and came over smelling of whiskey with a grin planted on his face.

Sebastian DeLuca happy was a strange but welcomed sight.

“Good evening, boss,” I nodded.

“It is pretty nice, isn’t it?” Sebastian continued to grin.

“Nora really worked hard to make this happen for you guys.”

Sebastian raised an eyebrow. “I’ve been meaning to ask you about that.”

Taking a deep breath, I nodded. “Ask away. I have no secrets from you.”

Sebastian’s eye brow never lowered and there seemed to be a teasing glint in his eye. “You and Nora…is this a thing?”

“It works for us,” my tone remained neutral.

“She was late most of last week,” he stated.

“Yes,” I replied.

“Nora is never late,” Sebastian beamed at me.

My Corsican was getting annoyed.

Tell him to go away so that we can watch our woman in peace,he muttered.

He pays the bills,I thought back.

“She never is,” I admitted starting to feel warm around the collar just a bit.
