Sebastian smelled as he always had, a hint of bourbon and sex. Brie smelled like Sebastian and Isotta DeLuca smelled an old perfume my own grandmother had worn. White Diamonds, I think it was called.

Nora, I could just barely smell her. A tinge of citrus and honey, some new perfume that she’d bought.

Holy fuck, what is going on?I thought.

Him,the Corsican roared. My father had sent my body in to high alert and we didn’t like it.

He was now approaching as if he didn’t have a care in the world, a glass of liquor in one hand and he had his other arm casually wrapped around Gisella. Electricity seemed to be sparking from his body. Augustus Zacchara was a barrel chested man, sporting a deep tan. He was an original gangster, with the jawline of a God, and his usually dark hair was starting to look grayer than I’d ever seen it before. He was one of the biggest arms dealers in the world, and the United States government let him get away with things no man should have ever been allowed to do.

My father and I hadn’t seen each other in nearly three years.

We simply didn’t see eye to eye on many things.

Hatred was ripping through my body like an electrical current flowing through the power lines above.

“My boy,” he greeted me, eyes glinting. He wasn’t going to waste any time in delivering the news. “Have you heard?”

Gisella chimed in. “May…you’re gonna be a big brother, again.”

She had on a white fur coat and tight black dress underneath. She was sporting a small belly and it made no sense. None of this was making any goddamned sense and I was starting to feel as though I couldn’t breathe.

The need to black out and letHimout was nearly uncontrollable.

“You don’t look so well,” my father remarked.

Let me handle him, he’s old now. I can destroy him.My Corsican wanted to beat the shit out of this man and I was inclined to help him.

“Yeah,” Sebastian turned and looked me up and down.

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from Gisella’s stomach. In her womb was growing yet another Zaccarah.

Another potential monster,I thought.

Gisella tried to smile. “Well, May, aren’t you going to congratulate me and your father?”

I shook my head finally snapping out of it. “You were nearly dead from the overdose.”

Gisella’s eyes grew big and I heard Brie speak. “Maybe we should discuss this another time.”

“No,” I snapped. “We can discuss it now. What were you doing at the Hellfire Club…all those men...”

Gisella tucked her blonde hair behind her ear. “That’s honestly none of your business.”

“The hell it isn’t,” I roared.

“You forget yourself boy,” my father sneered.

Red flashed on the edge of my vision and my head snapped to his face that had turned into a scowling storm.

“I forget myself?” I asked, deeply aware that I was drawing attention.

Augustus sipped from his glass. All he was missing was a fucking cigar and they would have thought he was a goddamned Don. No he was something else. He had made me the monster that I was. He was a mirror.

“Don’t fucking come in here,” I seethed looking between him and Gisella. “Pretending that any of this shit is okay.”

He laughed then, and sat his drink down on the bar.

“The two of you must stop this instance,” Isotta spoke her tone a warning as she looked around smoothing her hair.
