“Of course we would be. We’re brothers,” he said, gripping my shoulder.

“Have you seen Beau?” my dad asked a few minutes later.

“I’ve not.” I was about to offer to check on him, but thought better of it when it occurred to me he may be talking to Luisa. “He likely just needs a few minutes on his own.”

My father nodded and walked away.

When my brother hadn’t reappeared an hour later, I went looking. Beau lived in a separate residence on the estate but had spent the last two nights in the bedroom adjacent to mine. The two rooms were separated by a shared bathroom as well as two walk-in closets. When I didn’t find him anywhere upstairs, it occurred to me he may have gone back to his place.

“Have you seen Beau?” I asked Cru Avila, my brother’s closest friend, when I returned downstairs.

“He left. Didn’t he tell you?”

“Left? Back to his place?”

Cru shook his head. “He said he was flying out. When he didn’t say where, I didn’t ask. I figured you knew, though.”

“I didn’t, and I doubt my father did either since, a little over an hour ago, he asked if I’d seen him.”

Cru checked his watch. “It’s been close to two hours since he left.”

“Thanks.”

What in the bloody hell was my brother up to? I walked out of the room and rang him, but it went straight to voicemail. My father met me in the hall.

“Were you aware Beau was leaving?” I asked.

“Leaving?”

“That was my response when Cru told me he’s been gone over two hours. Apparently, he told him he was flying out.”

When my father merely nodded but didn’t comment, a feeling of dread settled over me. Was he on his way to see Luisa? Was that why I hadn’t heard from her? I’d know soon enough if I mentioned it to Ridge.

“Have you talked to Ridge?” I asked my sister.

“Yes, a few minutes ago. Why?”

“Did he say how Press and Beau are doing?”

“Actually, he asked me if you’d heard from Beau.”

“I haven’t heard from either of them.” It seemed odd that she’d ask about Beau specifically. I was more concerned I hadn’t spoken to his brother.

“Ridge said Beau left. He was catching a flight somewhere. He thought he might be on his way here.”

“Why here?”

Seraphina shrugged, and my eyes met Jada’s. She motioned with her head, and I followed her into another room.

“What about the kiss?” she whispered.

“I doubt that means he’s coming here.”

“Jacy would know, right?” said Jada.
