I shrugged like my sister had.

“Let’s ask her.”

We found her talking with Tank; both were standing right outside the front door.

“Is everything okay?” she asked when we joined them.

“Did Beau Barrett contact you about coming here?”

“He has not. Do you have reason to believe he might be?” Jacy asked.

“Ridge asked my sister if we’d heard from him.”

“I haven’t.” Jacy looked at Tank. “Have you?”

“Negative, and if he’d contacted one of the other guys, they would’ve informed Jacy or me.”

“We’ll be on the lookout, given the circumstances, but he’s been briefed that no one comes or goes without alerting us.”

“Thanks, Jacy.”

“If you do speak with him and he’s planning to come to the ranch, please let me know right away,” she said when Jada and I turned to go inside.

“Is it me, or does this seem weird?” I asked.

Jada shrugged. “I’m not the right person to ask.”

“Why not?”

“I think all those guys are weird.”

I smiled. In a way, I agreed. Since I’d gotten to know most of them, though, they didn’t seem as odd to me now.

“When’s the last time you talked to Press?” she asked.

“The night before last.”

“Maybe you should call him.”

“I don’t want to bug him. He usually checks in with me.”

When another daypassed without any word from him, I was tempted. Instead, when Ridge arrived to pick Seraphina up, I asked about him.

“Press is doing okay. Beau taking off is irritating, but it isn’t that unlike him.”

“No one knows where he went?” I asked.

“I have my suspicions.”

“Where?”

Ridge sighed. “My guess is he went to Australia to see Daphne.”

Two days after he kissed me. That should irk me more than it did. “I’m surprised she didn’t come to the funeral.”

“There wasn’t a lot of time. Plus, the Barretts requested the graveside service be private. Maybe that’s why she didn’t,” said Ridge.

“Do you know when Press is coming back?”
