“It’s none of your fucking business what I’m doing with Duke,” I shouted. “He’smybest friend! He’s belonged to me longer than he’s belonged to the club!”

My chest heaved with emotion as I stared daggers at her. “How dare you insinuate that I’d use him for sex. It cheapens our relationship.”

Joni stared at me for a long moment and then smiled. “That’s totally what I thought.”

“What?” I asked in confusion as I began to calm down.

“Youlovehim.” She sniggered, unfazed by my outburst. “Darcy owes me five bucks.”

“You’ve been betting on my love life?” I asked, mouth agape.

“Yup. About half the Old Ladies thought you’d pick Savage. But I knew. I’ve seen the way you and Duke look at each other when you think no one is watching. You’re never as sneaky as you think you are. Trust me. I know.”

There was a knock on the bathroom door that made me freeze. “Guys?” Mia called. “The door isn’t soundproof.”

“Crap,” I muttered, rubbing my head.

“Looks like you could use another drink,” Joni said, reaching around me to open the bathroom door.

The entire group of Old Ladies was crowded into the hallway. No one said anything for a long moment, and then a hand appeared out of nowhere with a full Bloody Mary.

“Drink this,” Jazz said.

I took the cocktail from her. “Thanks. Okay, minions, can you back up so we can get out of here?”

They dispersed, and by tacit agreement we all moved to the living room.

“I think I speak for everyone when I say this party just got a lot more interesting,” Doc said, fiddling with the straw in her mojito and smiling ear to ear.

“Was it boring before?” Brooklyn asked.

“No. Not boring. Tame,” Doc said. “But now we have some really interesting things to discuss!”

“Not that talking about breast pumps isn’t fun,” Jazz interjected. “It’s just that some of us can’t really add our two cents on that topic yet.”

“So,” Allison said. “You and Duke…”

“Damn it,” Darcy muttered.

“Pay up, wench,” Joni said with a laugh.

“Well, don’t just sit there,” Mia said. “Tell us how this happened and what it all means.”

And then for the next hour, I spilled the beans.

“It’s just so romantic,” Brielle said dreamily. She was several cocktails in and her cheeks were flushed.

“So does this mean that Savage is available?” Jazz asked.

Everyone looked at her.

“What? He’shot. And from what I gather, ever so slightly unhinged,” she expounded. “That’s a turn on, by the way…”

“Yeah, it comes from a place of loyalty,” I said. “That’s the kicker. Sometimes he’s a tad overprotective.”

“So, Waverly knows about you guys?” Mia asked.

I nodded.
