“Oh, that was horrible,” I said with a shudder.

“Another round?” Savage asked.

“Definitely not,” I said. “Why don’t you guys grab us a booth and I’ll get the first round of beers.”

The guys wandered off to the corner booth while I ordered three pints. I brought them to the table and set them down. Before I could sit by Duke, Savage grabbed me and pulled me into the booth next to him.

He slung an arm around me and said, “Slide your fingers through my hair.”

“What?” I demanded.

“Quick, pretend you’re my newest piece of ass,” he growled.

“You’re a pig,” I muttered, shooting Duke a look.

Duke clenched his jaw and reached for his pint of beer, just as the brunette Savage had hooked up with a few weeks ago approached the table.

“Hey Savage,” she greeted.

“Hi Elizabeth,” he said. The hand he had around me wandered down toward my breast. I smacked his hand away and glared at him.

His innocence was completely phony.

“How ya been?” she fished.

“Busy,” Savage said. He nuzzled against my hair and pulled me closer.

I didn’t have time for this.

I stared at the young woman standing at our table who looked hurt, but clearly didn’t have enough pride to walk away from the situation.

Sighing, I said, “Look, I’m not his girlfriend, or his newest piece of ass. Savage is Savage. He doesn’t do relationships and if he promised you a repeat performance, he’s a liar and an asshole. Sorry to disappoint you.”

“Aragingasshole,” Duke added.

“Definitely,” Savage agreed with a smile.

I elbowed Savage hard enough to make him grunt.

“You’re a pretty woman,” I said to Elizabeth. “You don’t need to hang around this table hoping Savage has a come-to-Jesus moment about you. Besides, there’s a really cute guy sitting at the bar checking you out as we speak.”

Her expression brightened. “Really?”

I nodded. “Really. Polo shirt. Corner.”

Elizabeth looked over her shoulder at the guy, who quickly turned his head, having been caught staring.

“Go ask him if he’ll buy you a drink,” I suggested. “And forget Savage. He probably wasn’t even that good in bed, anyway.”

“Hey,” Savage protested.

I shot him a look.

“Thanks,” Elizabeth said. She tossed her brown hair over her shoulder. “See ya around, Savage.” And then she sauntered over to the guy at the end of the bar and I watched as a smile bloomed across his face.

“Get off me, you dog.” I flung Savage’s arm away from me and then immediately stood up. Duke scooted over and I took a seat next to him.

“You’re a true best friend,” Savage said to me. “Thanks for that.”
