“At that place where things are so good in your life that you don’t trust it,” Mia said.

“Ah.” Darcy took a seat. “Rach looks good.”

Mia nodded. “She does.”

“You think she’s ready to move back to town?” Darcy asked.

“Not for me to say,” Mia said, looking down at her sleeping daughter. “But I’d rather have her here than in Wyoming.”

“She’s going to take over in the office,” Darcy said. “Help Boxer with the spreadsheets.”

“Yeah, Boxer hates that shit,” Mia said with a laugh. “When Waverly was helping out the week that she was suspended he was happier than a pig in shit.”

I snorted out a laugh. “She actually liked working. Can you believe that?”

“Speaking of work,” Darcy said. “Lily’s ballet teacher is starting her own ballet school, and as it turns out, she needs a website. I gave her your contact information.”

“Thanks,” I said with a huge grin.

“Excuse me, ladies,” Duke said as he approached the table. “Willa, you want to dance?”

I raised my brows. “Sure.”

He took my hand and helped me up and then led me toward the dance floor. Duke pulled me close and we just fit together like matching puzzle pieces.

“I was watching you,” he said, his lips pressed to my ear. “During the vows.”

“Yeah?” I shivered from his warm breath across my skin.

“You looked a little emotional.”

“I was,” I admitted. “I didn’t expect to be. But they’re…she…”

“Boxer and Doc have been through a lot,” he finished for me. “Can you keep a secret?”

“Debatable,” I teased.

He chuckled. “He’s surprising her with a trip to Scotland.”

“I think that’s called a honeymoon,” I quipped. “Why’s he making it a surprise?”

“Because she won’t take off from the clinic otherwise. Everyone in the clinic is in on it.”

“Poor Doc. Workaholic extraordinaire. She deserves a vacation. Why Scotland? Why not some place warm and tropical where you can sit topless on a beach?”

“Is that what you want? For your honeymoon?”

“Duke.”

“Willa.”

He dipped his head and lowered his voice even more. “I’d take you to a beach. One with white sand and water so clear you can see the bottom. You’d fall asleep underneath an umbrella. And as the afternoon turned into evening, with the sun dipping into the ocean, I’d peel your swimsuit off you and I’d slide into you from behind, the smell of the sun and sand on your skin.”

I shivered and buried my face into his neck. I suddenly wanted to be alone with him, anywhere else but here.

“Let’s go for a ride,” he said, his voice hoarse.

Nodding, I let him pull me off the dance floor. We passed the table I’d been sitting at with Darcy and Mia, both of whom looked at me like they knew what was happening.
