“I don’t know. I’m just annoyed.” I sighed.
“We have to get married quickly, right?” Duke asked.
I glanced at Waverly and then back to him. “Yeah.”
“You want the stress of throwing a wedding together quickly? It’s not like a proposal.”
“There’s flowers, the food, the music,” Savage listed.
I raised my brows at him.
“I helped Boxer with some shit,” Savage said. “Believe me. You’re better off signing some papers, getting it done, and getting on with life. Besides, it should be about themarriage, not about a wedding. That’s not the same thing.”
“I’m pretty sure that was your best man speech,” I said.
“If he’s the best man and that was his speech, then let me give mine. As maid of honor and all.” Waverly lifted her glass. “To Willa and Duke. It’s about damn time.”
“Waverly,” I snapped.
Savage raised his glass. “It’s about damn time,” he repeated.
With a sigh, I lifted my glass. “It’s about damn time.”
Duke shot me a look.
I shrugged. “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”
We finished our food and then Savage paid. “Call it your wedding gift.”
“Call it, try again,” I said, elbowing him in the ribs as we walked out of the restaurant.
“What do you want?” he asked. “I mean, it’s not like there’s a registry.”
“No, I guess there isn’t,” I said with a grin.
“How about a nice vase?”
“Why do I need a vase?” I asked.
“For the flowers that Duke is gonna bring you when he fucks up,” Savage said.
“Always thinking ahead,” Duke stated. “Nice.”
Waverly looked at Savage. “Take me to the mall.”
“Why do you need to go to the mall?” Savage asked.
“Because I need to buy a gift, too,” she said.
“You don’t,” I said. “You refurbished the desk, remember? That’s enough.”
She rolled her eyes. “No dingus, that’s a gift for your business. I want to get you a gift foryou.”
“What about me?” Duke asked. “You gonna get me something, too?”
“Obviously,” Waverly sassed. “So, will you take me to the mall?”
“Can’t your boyfriend take you?” Savage asked.
