“You could have one more,” Brooklyn said, rubbing her rounded belly.

Darcy shook her head. “Rationally, I’m done. Hormonally, I keep trying to suck the seed out of Gray.”

I was mid-sip, and her comment effectively made me spit my drink out all over the coffee table, causing another round of laughter.

“I doubt he’s complaining,” Doc teased.

“He said his dick is sore.” Darcy sniggered. “Like my hoo-ha is a clamp of steel or something.”

“If you guys keep talking this way, I’m gonna need more than a splash of vodka,” I said.

Darcy rummaged in her bag again and pulled out another mini bottle. She tossed it to me and I caught it. “Have at it, champ. We’re not going anywhere for a while.”

Chapter36

“When areyou guys getting your tattoos?” Darcy asked as she took a bite of her Philly cheese steak.

“Tattoos?” I asked in confusion. “Oh, because I’m his Old Lady. Weird. I never thought I’d say that.”

“Never?” Joni pressed. “Really? Or were you lying to yourself this entire time?”

“Maybe a little bit of both,” I admitted, finishing off the pickle that had come with my French dip sandwich. We’d ordered lunch to make it easy on all of us. The babies had been fed, changed, and were now napping.

A nap sounded like a fabulous idea, but I still had errands to run before I picked Waverly up from school.

“Willa?” Mia pressed.

“Hmm?”

“The tattoos,” she reminded me. “When are y’all getting branded?”

I sniggered. “We kind of already did.” I held up my wrist.

“Yeah, but that’s not really about you and Duke,” Darcy said. “I mean it is, but it’s about Savage too.”

“So as Mia puts it, I’ve got to get Duke’s brand on me somewhere?” I asked.

“Yep. That’s the way it works,” Doc said. “I definitely didn’t think I’d like it, but it gives me a sense of security. One I didn’t realize I wanted. You can remove a ring; you can’t remove a tattoo so easily.”

“I can’t wait to get my tattoo,” Brooklyn said. “After the baby’s born, I mean. Slash already got his, of course. It feels kinda lopsided on my end right now.”

“Here,” I brushed the spot underneath my right ear. “I think I’d like his name right here, with a little heart.”

“Well, I think that’s perfect,” Joni said.

I finished off my lunch and then helped clean up.

“So, you’re really not having a wedding? Like at all? Not even a party?” Mia asked.

I shook my head and grabbed my purse. “I’m really not. I told Duke we can do something for our one-year anniversary, but right now, everything needs to be simple and easy. Life has been too crazy to complicate it any further.”

“Don’t I know it,” Doc said. “I have a lot of anxiety about leaving the clinic for ten days, but Boxer thinks a vacation will be good for me.”

“It’s not a vacation, it’s a honeymoon,” Mia said with a laugh. “But he’s right. You need time away from the clinic.”

“Naked time,” Joni added.

“I have to go,” I said.
