I stepped into the shower and stood underneath the spray. I groaned at how wonderful it felt.

“Which is better?” Willa asked as she got in. “Sex with me, or the hot water?”

“Right now, it’s a tie.”

She snorted and reached for the soap. “Turn.”

I turned and then felt her hands on me.

“I’d like to hear more about your night,” she said. “I mean, I know you mentioned Savage was in a mood. But, is there anything to be worried about? Or is this just one of his spells?”

“It’s possible,” I admitted. “I’ll keep a close eye on him. Could be the stress of what’s coming with the cartel. The changes between us…”

“Why didn’t he come back here after the fight? He has a room.”

“Hook-up. He’s not going to bring some random woman to our home to fuck.”

“Valid,” she said. Her hands moved to my arm and she began to wash my skin.

“Tell me about your night,” I commanded.

“Hung out with Waverly and Sailor,” she said. “Waverly went to bed early, though. Had a headache.”

I bit my tongue.

Little liar.

“How’s Sailor doing?” I asked.

“Better.” Willa squatted and began to wash my calves, and when she did, I immediately wanted to fuck her again. “Doc prescribed her some gentle sleep aids—to help with the nightmares.” She brushed her hand on my hip, signaling me to turn.

“Do you need a prescription?” I asked baldly, my mind returning to the seriousness of the conversation.

“No.”

“You sure? You haven’t slept the night through since it happened.”

She swallowed and peered up at me, blue eyes wide. “I know. Doc said she’d prescribe me something, but I don’t want to take them. We’re trying to get pregnant.”

“We could wait,” I said gently, reaching down to grasp her elbow, forcing her to stand.

“Wait until what? The nightmares subside? They might never go away, Duke. I want a baby.”

“Okay.”

“I do,” she insisted. “And I don’t want anything getting in the way of that. Even if what’s getting in the way is my own mind plotting against me.”

“You sure?”

“Duke, you were the one who pressed for a family,” she said in exasperation. “And for the record, I’ve seen you with Mia’s daughter. You were terrified of holding her last I checked. What made you decide you wanted a kid if you feel that way?”

“Yeah, I was terrified of holding Scarlett,” I admitted. “But when you and I finally got together, I started to think about a family with you. I’ve thought about it a lot actually. You know that. A baby with you doesn’t scare me, because it’syou.”

Her eyes softened.

I rinsed the soap from my skin and then turned off the water. She climbed out of the shower first and handed me a towel.

By the time I dried myself, she’d changed and was settling back into bed. She pressed a hand to her mouth to cover a yawn. Willa snuggled under the covers and watched me move to the dresser. I opened the top drawer and pulled out a pair of gray sweatpants.
