“Are you seeing someone?”

“No? Maybe? Not really? Hold on…” Chase shoved his finger down his throat again and gagged perceptibly, causing the two of them to pale.

“It’s not in the water, you moron!” Emily snapped angrily, grabbing him by the wrist and yanking his fingers out of his mouth. “If you puke? I’LL PUKE!”

“Me, too,” Karen interjected.

“Keep it in your guts… and your pants, Chase!”

“Y’all are going to be hormonal and pregnant at the same time?” Chase whimpered in horror, looking between them. “It’s going to be like living at home again when you two were cycling together. That was awful.”

“Why do we include him in anything?”

“I have no idea.”

“Because I’m your brother – and the oldest?”

“You know what? I hope it’s actually in the water…” Emily seethed. “Maybe it would teach you a dose of understanding and humility. You and those goons at the station are impossible – and that’s why we avoid telling you stuff.”

“You’ve gotta tell Mom…”

“We’ve got to see a doctor first to be certain.”

“So, this could be a false alarm?”

Emily and Karen looked at each other, smiled, and hugged.

“I don’t think so,” Karen murmured. “Our babies will grow up together – and Johnny can babysit when he gets older.”

“You know what this is?Collusion!” Chase hissed, backing away in a panic. “You two FEMALES are colluding to make my life awful, your husbands’ lives a mess, and they don’t even know it yet! Mom is going to give me nine kinds of hell when she finds out I’m the only single one among us that’s left. She’s going to start on me about Johnny needing a brother, and compare it to how close your brats are…”

“BABIES,” Karen and Emily snapped in unison.

“SEEEEE?!”Chase roared. “Collusion! I’m so screwed!”

Emily’s brother literally bolted from the apartment, storming down the stairway, and slammed the door behind him. She heard his car’s tires skitter on the gravel parking lot as he took off like a monster was chasing him down.

“He’s awfully dramatic,” Karen muttered, crossing her arms and staring at the doorway that Chase disappeared out of.

“No kidding.”

“You’d think that he was the hormonal one.”

“Do you think he got some girl pregnant again?”

“I doubt it,” Emily muttered. “He’s so gun-shy about women in general, it would take a miracle to get him to settle down again, or even try marriage after that disaster he married.”

“No kidding.”

“Honey was anything but honey…”

“Right? Talk about misleading…”

“Botulism,” Emily announced. “I think you can get botulism from a bad batch of honey… and that girl was about as horrific as a whopping case of botulism could be.”

“Can’t you die from that?”

“Are you sure a little piece of Chase didn’t?”
