“You were the only one worth talking to…” he interjected softly.

“You accepted me, joined me bite-for-bite, making me smile and laugh so much that I realized what sheer joy felt like… and then you kissed me. You literally swept into my world, made me feel beautiful…”

“You arebreathtaking…” he interrupted.

“And made me feel so loved that it was incredible,” she smiled, blinking back tears. “You flew me into the heavens, showed me your world, and sailed away with me, showing me the stars…”

“You’re gonna see them again too, my love…” he whispered hotly, grinning at her, causing her to laugh once again as she tried to shake her head, only to send the feathers wobbling precariously, as she burst out laughing again.

John stepped forward, putting his hand on either side of the helmet that the feathers were attached to, to help with the swaying inertia of the heavy headdress – and gazed in her eyes.

“There is no other woman that has ever enchanted me as much as you have, Emily…”

“Oh John, there is no one else I can ever imagine giving my heart to – and you had it the moment you smiled at me.”

“I love you so much, my beautiful wife.”

“You are my everything, John,” she whispered tearfully, gazing at him just before he leaned forward, kissing her tenderly. “I love you,” she breathed against his lips, right before they touched.

They stood there kissing each other for several moments before she heard someone clearing their throats in the background. John broke the kiss and backed away from her slightly, smiling at her.

“This wedding was so much better than the first…” he whispered, smiling knowingly. “… I think.”

“Something I’ll never forget…” she admitted, beaming at him. “… I think.”

They smiled at each other in understanding.

Whatever had happened, they were doing their best to grasp at this chance at happiness. Maybe the drink had removed any inhibitions or fears, allowing them to open up, but she would never know. Part of her wondered if they’d been slipped something at some point… but it didn’t matter anymore.

They had married… and he’d wanted to do so again, so they could solidify whatever was beginning between them. He wanted no questions on their relationship, his commitment, or her position in their future. He was her friend, putting her first, and now honoring her as his wife to make sure there were no doubts between them.

… And for that?

She loved him even more.

“Hmm… now what was the other part we forgot?” he teased innocently. “If we are going to do this – we should definitely make sure that we don’t miss a step.”

“The wedding night,” she breathed scandalously, grinning, as John winked at her. “We should recreate that, too.”

“Whatever my beautiful bride wants…”

“You two are too cute,” the receptionist interrupted, wiping her eyes and taking photos of them. “Why don’t you both get changed and I’ll fill out a decorative marriage license for you to frame as well. This was the best thing to witness… and your vows? Spectacular and straight from the heart. You two are just so precious!”

John leaned forward to kiss Emily on the tip of her nose.

“Go get changed, my love… and let’s head to our room.”

Blushing, she headed back down the hallway – only to emerge about ten minutes later to see John standing at the receptionist desk, picking out photographs.

“What do you think of these?”

He’d selected a few photographs of them as they stood there holding hands, saying their vows… and one of them kissing.

“Oh, I love that one,” she whispered, smiling up at him. “It reminds me of the photo from the Cessna.”

“Right?”

“Now, we each have one that we love.”
