“Family only,” demanded one nurse.

“Wearefamily!” They all yelled.

“Let them through,” said Dr. Larson coming up behind them. “This family’s been through a lot.”

The nurse brigade backed off and scoffed as they shuffled back to the nursing station.

The men all tumbled into the room, looking like they were straight out of a Three Stooges episode.

“You get ten minutes,” said Dr. Larson with a wink before shutting the door.

“You’re okay?” Jax asked, approaching Muriel’s side.

“I’m okay,” she said, smiling. “Of course, I’ve never had an army of the finest-looking men in the west fight to see me. That’s something I won’t be soon forgetting.”

Weston came up to me and hugged me tightly.

“What happened?” I asked him. “Are you okay?” I searched his face and swallowed when I saw a few bruises.

“I’ll tell you later. I’m okay, I promise.” He didn’t let me go, but he reached over to pat Muriel’s hand. “Good to see you, Muriel.”

She had a smile plastered on her face despite how tired she must’ve felt.

“Where’s Tom? He was the one who texted us all,” said Drayven.

The door opened, and Lucy came in with a big Congratulations balloon and a stuffed bear tucked under her arm. Tom was beside her with the biggest bouquet of flowers he’d brought yet.

“Wow, that’s quite the reception,” said mama from her bed.

“This is for you, Muriel darling.” Tom placed the bouquet by her bedside and bent over to kiss her on the cheek.

“And these are for the Myles-Millers!” Lucy tossed the bear over to Weston and handed me the balloon.

Muriel’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

I laughed nervously and turned to Weston who was staring at the bear in his hands.

“Is it true?” he said, looking at me.

I took in a deep breath and held his gaze.

“We’re having a ‘real’ baby,” I said.

A slow grin spread across his face until he couldn’t contain himself. He let out a loud “whoop” and picked me up, spinning me around.

Afraid to hit any of the machinery in the ICU room, he quickly set me back down, but the smile was still in his eyes. I smiled back but quickly looked at mama.

“How long have I been out?” She said, rubbing her head.

“Muriel! You’re going to be a grandmother. For real!” Lucy squeezed Drayven excitedly.

“Well, would you look at that? Miracles do happen,” she said, reaching for me.

“They do, mama.”
