Their lives were different as night and day, and Kaitlyn couldn't be more shocked at the outcome. While Fawn had tried to take everything from her, instead, she'd done nothing more than prove exactly how lucky Kaitlyn was and how good her life would be.

Because when Fawn tried to take everything, she proved to Kaitlyn that Carter was the man that she needed, the man that she loved, the man she wanted to spend her life with. Someone that she could absolutely trust, even if she couldn't trust anyone else... like her best friend.

So, Kaitlyn had lifted her chin and allowed Carter to guide her into the restaurant, pushing Fawn out of her thoughts. While it still hurt to think about what her ex-best friend had done, Kaitlyn knew that over time she'd think about her less and less, and the things she had done would stop being so fresh and painful. Like a wound, the past would heal, and Kaitlyn would move on with her life, happy, cherished, and full of hope.

Because the two things that Fawn couldn't steal from her were hope and love.

“What are you thinking about?” Carter asked, dragging her thoughts back to the present.

“You, us. How happy I am. How amazing my life is.” She dragged the tip of her nose back and forth across Carter’s, and he smiled. “I love you.”

She could only imagine that, with how hard everything had been to start, that the rest of their lives would be easy in comparison....

...and she couldn't wait.

The End.
