“I’m on my way to kill Vitale, just like I told you. I know exactly where he is, and I have no time to waste. I need to leave, but I’ll call you when I’m home safe,” I reply, bracing for another fight.

“What?! No, I need to go with you,” she protests.

I sigh, unable to contain my chagrin. “Iris, how can you be so willing to go to a place where your captor is going to be? This man was going to ship you across the world to be gangbanged against your will. Why are you being stubborn about this?”

“The whole entire reason that I was out at the warehouse the night you met me was to expose these guys. And then it was the reason you sent me to that fake lunch date with Amy. I’ve been following this story for longer than I’ve even known you. Don’t rob me of the chance to see it reach its conclusion, please,” she pleads, grabbing onto my arms and squeezing my biceps with desperation.

It would be unwise of me to bring her with, but I’m not convinced that she would stay here like a good girl if I told her she couldn’t come. I’d rather have her there and know where she is than have her show up halfway through a firefight that ends in her death.

“Fine, but youneedto listen to everything I say. You must not deviate from my instructionsat all,do you understand me? This is serious,” I reply.

She nods emphatically. “Yes! Yes, I will listen to you! Are we leaving now?”

I glance over to Leonardo, who has unwittingly witnessed this entire exchange start to finish.

He nods, getting into the driver’s seat and starting the car.

I look at Iris, watching her eyes grow wide with curiosity, fear, and righteous anger.

“Yeah, I guess we are.”

Bringing Iris to a shootout is a terrible idea, but she’s too stubborn to stay back. I had no choice but to bring her with unless I wanted to chain her up, and I couldn’t do that to her.

I’ve called all of my men to get into position, rolling out the armored SUVs that will surround the property before Vitale even knows what’s happening. I have good reason to believe that he’ll be there around this time of day, not daring to go out in public and risking being seen. He’s an idiot, but he’s just smart enough to run away well.

The address to the crack house where he’s hiding shows that it’s right by the water where the ships come in. He seems very attached to that side of town, and I’m starting to wonder if this alleged crack house is his main base. It would make sense, hiding in plain sight in an unassuming place like a run-down neighborhood. He was probably running product out of the warehouses long before he was trafficking women.

Fuckin’ sneaky bastard.

“Haven’t we been over here before?” Iris asks, jogging her memory of the night she was kidnapped.

“Yeah, we have. This is where I used to operate before the feds started tracking me. It was a good place to do business, and I’m kind of shocked that Vitale got away with it for so long,” I reply as we pull up to the last street before our destination.

“Wow, I parked my car right there that night,” Iris says, pointing over to a parking lot down the road from my old warehouse. “I remember that night so clearly. So much has changed.”

I want to join her in reminiscing about the past, but we need to get out and kill Vitale before he catches on. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s got men staked out all over the neighborhood watching for suspicious vehicles.

“I’m going to send out the signal to storm the house here in a minute. Everyone get ready to run,” I command, grabbing onto my AR-15 as my heart picks up speed.

Iris looks nervous, but I can see the determination in her eyes. She wants to see this end as badly as I do, and I can’t take that away from her. She needs to see the man who tormented her be killed. It’s the only closure that she’ll accept.

I send out the signal to all the other SUVs that have surrounded the block. Everyone will take off running in fifteen seconds, aiming their weapons at the house in case Vitale or any of his men try to escape. Nobody is getting out of here alive if I don’t want them to.

I’ve seen the online map of this house, so I’m familiar with the entrances on both ends of the house. I’ve instructed my men to watch me go in through the back, following behind me unless they’ve been stationed elsewhere. There’s no room for mistakes.

When I approach the door, I silently count off from three until I kick the rotting door in.

We run into the house, met first with a kitchen and next with a dingy, disgusting living room where Vitale is receiving a blowjob from a girl who probably hasn’t eaten in two days.

Everything happens so fast. The girl sees us before he does, and she screams at the top of her lungs, staggering back and tripping on her high heels. She’s weeping now, and I don’t know if it’s from fear or from desperation that we might save her.

“Get out now!” I shout at her, feeling terrible for scaring her so much.

However, we’re in the perfect position to blow his head off.
