Somehow conjuring the ability to move muscles that had locked in place, she willed herself to step away from Antonio. But his arm snaked around her waist before she could get anywhere, pulling her back to him.

Choking on her words she said, “I’m sorry.”

Too ashamed to meet his gaze, she kept her attention on the ground beneath her. He didn’t seem to agree with that, his rough hand gripping her chin and forcing it up until their eyes met.

The turmoil beneath his eyes was chilling. But so was the hunger, raw and pure.

“Just a taste,” he muttered, more so to himself than to her. “A taste won’t hurt.”

Whatever that meant.

Before she knew what was happening, his lips found hers, andhewas kissingher. At the taste of his soft lips against her own, and the feel of his strong hands in her hair, Sophia’s knees went weak, her embarrassment forgotten.

He was kissing her back.

And she kissed him back too.

Her heart began racing when his tongue teased her lips, urging her to part them for him. Succumbing to urges she didn’t know she had, she did exactly that. She was grateful for thatstrong arm that held her. Without its support, she would’ve already collapsed onto the floor below.

When his tongue lapped against hers and she responded in kind, she couldn’t help but wonder why she had waited so long to engage in an act that felt so right.

Then, he pulled away so quickly she nearly lost her balance. If he wasn’t there to steady her, she would’ve fallen.

Though he helped keep her upright with his hands, she noticed the careful attention he placed on keeping his body as far away from her as he possibly could. When she dared to look into his eyes, all she could see was regret.

“Uh…” Sophia began, at a loss for words. Maybe he was disgusted by her lack of talent. It made sense. She didn’t know the first thing about kissing and hadn’t warned him about that. “It’s that obvious, huh?” She asked, sheepishly looking up to him through the loosened strands of hair that now hung over her face.

“What’s obvious?” His tone was short.

Gulp.“How I haven’t done that before.”

“You haven’t…What?”

Okay, so hedidn’tknow. It was safe to say he did now.

Startled by his reaction, she backed up, far enough to fall out of his reach. Running a heavy hand over his lips he asked, “You’ve never kissed anyone before?” She couldhearthe anger he was working so hard to rein in.

She seriously fucked up.

Despite the embarrassment that ate her alive, she planted firm feet on the ground, lifting her chin so it felt likeherwho was looking down athim. “What’s it to you?”

Before Antonio could say anything else Casper was there, reaching for her wrist. “What are you doing?” His face was a bright shade of red, his breathing heavy. She couldn’t remember the last time she saw him this upset.

That was probably because he never was. At least not around her.

“Ah, you’redrunk! I knew I shouldn’t have let you walk off.” To Antonio, he said, “And what were you thinking? Do you enjoy taking advantage of innocent fey?”

Antonio was still running a palm down his face. “It would seem so,” he said, most of his words muffled by his hand.

Sophia’s temper toppled over. Like hell he took advantage of her! “Ikissedyoufirst! If anyone took advantage of anyone, it wasme!” She stabbed a finger into her chest.

“Soph, have you lost your mind?” Casper tugged her away, leaving the werewolf staring at nothing, his expression unreadable. “I fucking hate werewolves. Moronic brutes. But if you wanted to get with a werewolf, I could’ve given you a whole list of suitable ones!Fuck, any werewolf would’ve been okay. But nothim!”

“You know him?”

“Everyone knows him. He’s dangerous, Sophia.Verydangerous.”

She had difficulty believing that. She didn’t know Antonio long, but nothing about him screamed,“Danger!”in the short time she did.
