“I thought you said it was a business meeting?” I asked, trying to hide my surprise. “It was a date?”

“Little of column A, little of column B,” he said. “Jocelyn and I went to college together, and she runs a data processing company now. She’s still got the hots for me for sure. I swear, she was like a cat staring at a salmon steak. Don’t look at me like that, Boston. Nothing happened. I’ve got stronger willpower than that. I focused on the deal.”

“Wasn’t going to judge you either way,” Jude said, clearing his throat. “Sometimes it’s okay to mix your work and personal life.”

Owen snorted. “You feeling okay, buddy? Never would’ve expectedyouto say that.”

Jude’s eyes widened. “No! I mean, yes, I’m feeling fine. I was just thinking…” He pulled out his phone and turned away. “Oh, shoot. I forgot to reply to Melinda’s email…”

I winced at his awkward response, but Owen didn’t seem to notice anything was wrong. Instead, he reached into his pocket and shoved something into my hand.

“Catch you guys later,” he said, striding toward his office. I opened my palm. It was a Post-It note, folded in half to hide the contents.

Jude turned back to me and frowned. “What was that about?”

“Oh, um… I don’t know. Owen’s acting weird.”

Jude chuckled and said, “That means he struck out with Jocelyn. He’s been looking forward to their meeting for the past two weeks. Apparently she isveryattractive.” He cleared his throat and added, “Owen’s opinion. Not mine.”

He was on a date with an attractive woman last night, I thought, and he left it to come play with me?The confusion in my stomach deepened.

Jude nodded at me. “What’d he hand you? Is that a note?”

I clenched my fingers to cover the note instinctively, then opened them again. The note was probably something personal. Teasing me about what happened, or promising more. But I couldn’t hide it, or keep it to myself, or Jude would know something was up.

Slowly, I unfolded the piece of paper.

The vulgar phrase brought back the images from last night, memories of Owen’s strong arms around my thighs and his tongue pressed roughly against my clit.

Jude laughed. “That’s the password for your Facebook account, isn’t it?”

I realized that he was right. It was similar to the password I had set to Owen’s LinkedIn profile, Cuntwaffle6969. Owen was giving me access again… and teasing me about last night in the process.

“Yeah,” I said with a laugh. “I guess it is.”

Owen came out of his office and walked toward us. “Melinda said there are donuts in the kitchen. Grab them while they’re fresh.”

“You gave Amber her Facebook password back?” Jude asked. “Even though it has only been two days?”

Owen grinned broadly, and responded without slowing down. “What can I say? I’m agiver.”

He laughed as he went down the stairs, leaving me blushing even harder than before.

After getting a donut from the kitchen—chocolate glazed—I went back to my office and tried to login to my Facebook account. Sure enough, the password worked. I quickly changed it to something more secure, and removed the furry Photoshop from my page.

Itwasa nice thing for Owen to do, giving me access to my account today rather than making me wait the five days he had originally said. A small gesture, yet indicative that things had changed between us.

Another indication that things changed? He went down on me last night!

The fact that he was having a dinner meeting with another woman when he did it was also strange. Intrigued, I set out to find who this woman was. Her details weren’t listed on Owen’s calendar, but Jude mentioned they went to school together. A Jocelyn who ran a data processing company and graduated from San Diego State. Within twenty seconds, I was looking at photos of her.

And she washot.
