“Hello” I greet.

“How do I get inside to your apartment?” Yiorgos’ deep accented voice asks, making me sit up straight on the couch.

“You’re here?”

“I am, so how do I get in?”

I begin to panic as I look down at my Books for Life tank top with the matching bottoms that have different color books all over them.

“Dee,” Yiorgos calls.

“Oh, I’m here but I don’t think this is a good time,” I tell him.

He chuckles in my ear. “No time like the present. I brought you some dinner or have you eaten already?”

My stomach growls at his mention of food. Come to think of it, I haven’t eaten anything since lunch.

“Fine. Park in the back and I’ll let you in through the back door,” I state.

“Okay” he says before the line goes dead.

Grabbing the bookmark off the coffee table, I save my spot in the book, then toss it on the table. Glancing around my living room, I make sure it’s tidy enough to entertain, which it is. Taking a deep breath, I head towards the stairs. Going down, I get to the entryway, unlock the door, then open it. I leave it ajar as I step into the stockroom. Disabling the alarm system, I open the back door and find Yiorgos standing there in fresh clothes, holding two brown paper bags with handles. The delicious aroma of the food causes my stomach to growl again.

Yiorgos laughs, stepping inside. “I guess you didn’t eat dinner from the sound of your stomach.”

Closing the door and resetting the alarm, I giggle, “You can say that. Follow me.”

“Nice pajamas by the way,” he says behind me.

“Thank you,” I reply, wondering if he was checking out my ass. I’m definitely not going up the stairs before him.

When we get to the entranceway, I hold up my arm, indicating for him to go first. Yiorgos puts on a boyish smile, saying, “Ladies first. I insist.”

We have a stare down as he continues to smile at me. When he doesn’t budge, I roll my eyes and go first. If he wants to see my ass in action, then he can with it covered with books.

“Welcome to my humble abode,” I tell him as we clear the last stair.

He looks around with the same smile on his face. “This is very nice, Dee.” Yiorgos tilts his head to the side as he takes in the wall I’ve turned into my library. Books line the shelves from top to bottom. I’m very proud of my collection. “So, not only do you spend your entire day selling books, but you also come home to be around them too. I guess you are a true lover of books, Dee.”

His smile drops as I turn to face him. I’m sure by the serious expression I’m giving him is the reason for it.

“I want to be clear on something. When I told your brother that everyone else calls me Dee, I was referring to my family and friends. So, are you calling me Dee to be my friend?”

I have to lock my knees again as Yiorgos moves so close to me that if I take a deep breath, my boobs will be touching his sculpted chest.

He tilts his head before whispering in my ear, “They may call you Dee to shorten your name, but I call you Dee for another reason.”

“And what is that?” I ask curiously, not sure if I wanted to know the answer.

Yiorgos never takes his eyes off mine as he replies, “I call you Dee as a term of endearment. Had you not told Basil to call you Dee then I would’ve forever called you Deanna because I think it’s a beautiful name.”

Well, shit. They way my name rolled off his tongue, I would prefer him to call me Deanna than Dee.

“I would love for you to use my full name,” I tell him.

He bows his head, spreading his arms wide, saying, “As you wish.”

I stay silent for a few seconds before bursting out in a fit of laughter. “You so stole that line from The Princess Bride! Here I am thinking you’re this big, bad alpha male but when you quote shit like that, I have to do some rethinking.”
