Yiorgos stands, then pulls me up. “I’ll let you finish your dinner, but I’ll be back tomorrow once I check in at my office. Now, come let me out and lock everything back up.”

He leads me down the stairs and to the back door. Yiorgos stops in front of the door, then faces me. “I have truly enjoyed this time with you, Deanna.”

“I have as well,” I say.

He bends down and his lips brushes against my earlobe. “I can’t wait to see you again and if you want to open the store tomorrow, you can as long as I’m here with you.”

Shaking my head, I tell him, “Yiorgos, I’ve told you, I don’t need anyone to babysit me.”

He presses his fingers under my chin, rebutting, “Kitten, I for one will never think that you need babysitting, but I would feel more comfortable if I’m close by when that asshole realizes his men won’t be checking in with him.”

Against my better judgement I hold a finger up to him, then dash back up the stairs. When I return, I place an extra key in his hand with a small piece of paper.

“The key lets you into the apartment, the code on the paper lets you inside of the building.”

Yiorgos feels a moment of victory. “You won’t regret this, Deanna. My job right now is to ensure that you are safe at all costs,” Yiorgos states.

Shrugging my shoulders, I say, “Then I’m the lucky one to have you on my team.”

Yiorgos stills me with another bone shattering kiss as my last words leave my lips. I never got the chance to ask him deeper questions about his family or happened to the two men they took form the bookstore but, in this moment, it didn’t really matter.

Chapter 10

Yiorgos

It took everythinginside of me to leave Deanna’s apartment last night. I know she had the same thing on her mind as I did and that was to tear one another’s clothes off, but I knew that was not the time. That night was all about us getting to know each other better. As much as I wanted to have my way with her and touch her hair, I reigned that shit in and conducted myself as the gentleman my father raised. After checking to see that my men were camped out around the building, I drove off knowing she was safe.

I’ve spent most of this morning online trying to dig up everything I could about Conrad Hollis but fell short. There were no pictures or background information listed. That wasn’t going to deter me from getting at his ass. Malichi said Hollis never met them at the same place, so he didn’t know where Hollis’ main office was located. I had his name and that’s a start. I knew to get the other information I needed; I was going to have to put in a call to Balthazar.

Sitting in my office, I dial his number on my desk phone. Basil and I wait for him to answer.

“Cousin,” he answers on the third ring.

“Balthazar,” I return.

“How’s Chicago treating you? You should be used to the cold elements, coming from Greece.” He jokes.
