“Kitten,” he greets.

“Yiorgos, I need you to get here now.”

“What’s wrong? Are you having problems at the store?” He questions.

“I’m not sure but bring Basil and Malichi with you.”

“We’re on our way,” he states.

“Okay and please hurry.”

What the entire fuck, I think to myself as I look out the window, checking to see if Yiorgos’ men are still parked outside. Letting out a sigh of relief when I see them, I turn off the open sign, then go up to my apartment to wait for Yiorgos.

Less than thirty minutes later, I hear the apartment door open, then close. I’m sitting on the couch with a glass of wine in my hand, trying to calm my nerves.

Yiorgos appears first with Basil and Malichi in tow. He rushes over to me and sits on the couch, wrapping his strong arms around me.

“Tell me what’s wrong, Kitten,” Yiorgos demands, holding me tight.

“I think he was here,” I whisper.

“Who?” he questions, pulling back from me.

“Hollis,” I reply, staring into to his eyes.

He releases me, standing. “Motherfucker!”

Basil sits on other side of the couch, “Dee, how do you know it was him?”

“I don’t, but from the vibe I got and the things he said leads me to believe it was him.” Opening my laptop, I pull up the security feed. The three of them gather in as it starts to play.

“That’s definitely Hollis,” Malichi confirms as the video shows Hollis and the other two walking into the bookstore.

I glance at Yiorgos whose expression can only be read as lethal.

“That’s the same motherfucker who was trying to get into Mythos the night of your birthday dinner. He and his blonde bimbo were turned away because he was making a scene.”

The sound of my front door reopening, then closing has them brandishing their firearms.

Zoe’s cheerful smile drops when she sees the three of them aiming their weapons at her.

“Damn, are you going to shoot me for popping in on my sister?” She asks, coming in further, carrying bags. “Had I known this is what I’d be walking into, I would have had my nine drawn. Dee fights and I am too pretty for that, I shoot.”

Yiorgos, Basil and Malichi holster their weapons. I get up and go to her. Hugging Zoe, I tell her, “I need to fill you in some things.”

“You think? I was just coming to surprise you with dinner, not stepping in front of a firing squad,” Zoe fusses.

Basil comes to our side. “Sorry about that, Zoe. Let me take those bags for you.”

Handing him the bags, Zoe says, “This is the reason why you rushed off the phone with me earlier. You could’ve told me you and your brother were coming over here. And who the hell is that?” She points at Malichi.

“That’s Malichi, one of my employees,” Yiorgos answers.

Taking her hand, I lead her to the couch. “Zoe, have a seat.”

She gives me a skeptical look as she slowly moves her head from side to side. “I think I’ll remain standing because whenever someone tells you to have a seat, they’re about to tell you something bad.”

“Deanna, just tell her,” Yiorgos encourages.
