I was kind of surprised he wanted to talk so freely in front of Deanna. I mean I wouldn’t hide anything from her if she asked, but it seemed Tahir didn’t have a problem with discussing our plans in front of her.

Deanna reached over the console, gripping my hand in hers. She gave me a reassuring smile as if she knew I was hesitant to have this conversation in front of her.

“Hollis has been tracked and we know his every move. We’re going to give him the worst unwanted visit he’s ever experienced in his fucking life.”

“I want to be in on that,” Tahir quickly responds.

Still holding my hand, Deanna turns in her seat. “No, Tahir. We just got you back and if something should happen to you, I would never forgive myself.”

“Lucky for me, I’m a grown ass man. I might’ve done what some would think was the sucker route before, but that shit won’t happen again. I’m never leaving my family again.” Tahir expressed.

Tugging at her hand, I said, “If you had a million years to try and convince Tahir to not be a part of this, it still wouldn’t be enough. His only focus right now is to make sure his family is safe and if I was in his situation, I’d be doing the same thing.”

As I drove, I felt her eyes on me as my words seeped in. Deanna looked back at her brother before stating, “I don’t know what Yiorgos has planned, nor do I want to. What I do know is the two of you along with the others better be the ones who survive this. Momma and Daddy are at peace now that you have returned. Don’t let them go through having to lay your body to rest after years of praying you were still alive. As for Yiorgos, I know he will do everything to make it back to me, so dear big brother whatever he tells you to do, listen to him.”

Tahir chuckled, clapping his hands together. “You know little Sis; I remember it used to be me who you called on when the local bullies used to pick on you. I guess I’m not needed any more now that you have yourfiancé.”

I held onto Deanna’s hand as it went slack in mines. Tahir’s words had hit a nerve with Deanna in a way that couldn’t stop the verbal assault that was coming his way.

Deanna leisurely turned in her seat to face her brother. “First of all, let me enlighten you on a few things. Yes, you always protected Zoe and me when we were younger because that’s what a big brother is supposed to do. You were always our savior and we looked up to you because of it but a lot has changed since then. Zoe and I are not the same young women you left five years ago. We’re fucking grown and can protect ourselves. Oh wait...you can get credit for that since it was because of your untimely disappearance Daddy had us taking self-defense classes. He didn’t want someone snatching up his daughters too. Yes, I have Yiorgos, myfiancénow to lighten the load but he can also confirm that I have no problem with laying hands on anyone who deserves it.”

“It’s true,” I cosigned as I bring her hand to my lips and kiss the back of it.

“If that’s the case, then maybe I should’ve stayed in witness protection,” Tahir returned.

Stopping at red light, I glanced over my shoulder. Tahir had a sad look on his face as he stared out the window. I cut my eyes Deanna, the squeezed her hand and got her attention. When she caught my eye, I tipped my head in Tahir’s direction. Though what she said was true, Tahir was already beating himself up for leaving his family. I’m not sure making him feel like his family didn’t need him was a good idea.

I raised my brown to Deanna as she took a deep breath, then told her brother, “Tahir, I didn’t mean for my words to sound so harsh, nor do I want you to feel like I’m not happy that you’re back, because I am. I missed the hell out of you and there were times I wished you were there to chase the bad guys away. Just knowing you came back to us even though it could potentially put you in harm shows that you are still the same big brother who would do whatever to protect his family. I love you, Tahir.”

A lone tear streamed down her face as Tahir cleared his throat and said, “I love you too, Dee.”

I kissed Deanna’s hand again before going through the green light. Their situation is tough but through time their family will come together like it used to be.

The rest of the ride to the condos was smooth after that. Deanna and Tahir were able to catch up. Tahir has been working as an office manager with a realtor company. You could tell by the way he spoke about his job, he was proud. Maybe when this is all over and if he decides to move back, I’ll offer him a position with one of our companies.

Once we arrived at the condos, Alistair, Mike, Tech and Malichi went to the unit Alistair used to stay in. I showed Tahir and their parents to the second condo while Basil took Zoe to the third, leaving me and Deanna with the last condo. After checking them out, everyone came back to our condo.

The cleaning staff have been doing an excellent job in keeping everything tidy. Basil had called ahead to make sure each condo was filled with groceries. All other essentials were already there. When Deanna asked about their clothing, I gave her my black card and told them to buy whatever they needed at the boutiques and stores located in the area or order their things online and have them delivered overnight. Either way, several of my men would be at the building to drive them around it needed. Mrs. Lowe told Deanna to get her and their father whatever she thought they needed. She was taking Mr. Lowe back to their condo to start their mini vacation and they would be back in the morning.

As Deanna and Zoe were making their shopping list, Alistair and the other men returned. The sun was starting to go down and it was time for Operation Take Down Hollis to commence.

“It’s time for us to go,” I whispered in Deanna ear as we sat at around the dining room table.

“I know,” she softly spoke, looking down at the paper.

“Kitten, look at me.”

She slowly brought her eyes up to mine.

“I will be walking back through those doors in no time. Don’t worry your pretty little head about that,” I assured her.

“I know you will, Yiorgos. I’m not worried about that, I just wish I was going with you so I could beat the shit out of Hollis for destroying my bookstore,” she said.

I chuckled. “I know you do, Kitten.” I stood, then helped her up. “Come walk me to the door.”

The others had already started heading that way. As we came around the corner Basil and Zoe stood outside the doorway. Deanna giggled when Zoe’s jaw dropped as Basil whispered something in her ear. He then kissed her cheek before leaving her standing there like a statue.

“Ahem,” uttered loudly from Deanna, breaks Zoe out of her trance.
