Tears rolled down as she looked at me, never once at the ring I presented to her. Did she not want me?

“Domencio, you came into my life when I least expected it. Ever since that night at the casino, you have broken down my walls of ever being in a serious relationship. Other than my daddy or Booker, you have continued to be a constant person in my life who I can always depend on. I say yes not because of that, but because I love you. My king.”

Everyone erupts with glee as I slide the ring on her finger. Standing, I kiss my fiancée, pushing all my love inside of her.

I wanted to take her to the closest Justice of Peace the next day, but I knew Momma Rachel would want Sydney to have her dream wedding.

As I thought about it, I knew when the time came, Sydney wouldn’t have a Maid of Honor or any Bridesmaids standing next to her because she didn’t deal with too many females. Hell, before Booker or Reiner, Batista was the only person in my corner who I completely trusted. With Sydney not having any female friends, we’re left to figure out the wedding party, but we’ll deal with that later. Now was the time for us to celebrate our engagement amongst those we held dear to our hearts.

To say this was the best night of my life would be an understatement. I got the woman of my dreams, so the only thing left to do is have her sign the marriage certificate. People think that couples are bonded when they say ‘I do’ but for me, Sydney was bonded to me that first night. I’ll play along with traditions, but I already know the truth and I don’t need a marriage certificate to prove it.

Long live the reign of King and Queen of Louisiana, Mr. and Mrs. DeLuca.

The end.
