Celibacy is obviously the way to go.

"Oakley," I whimper. I don't even know what I'm asking for, but she's the only other woman around.

My eyes squeeze shut. I say a quick prayer.

When I open my eyes… Nope. I'm still here.

I can't believe this is really happening.

A rattling sob escapes my chest.

This isn't how things were supposed to go. I have a birthing plan, and none of this is on there.

What a ridiculous thought. Shaking my head, I bite my lip. This is a nightmare. I mean, I'm grateful Jude has the skills to deliver a baby, but this is just…

The pain hits again, and I lose my train of thought as I squeeze Dexter's hand for dear life. If I were more coherent, I'd be a little afraid of breaking a bone and ruining his career. But as it stands, both he and Issac deserve to suffer until I figure out which one of them knocked me up,they can both hurt.

My heart pounds erratically as it pangs.

"Where are Issac and Vince?" I sob as I remember they're not here and it's not safe out there.

"They're fine," Hawkins says from the doorway behind us. "They're en-route to the hospital with Warrick. They made sure to track down someone in charge. They're getting you an ambulance and an escort right now to the same hospital. They aren't injured."

"Oh, God," I whimper. "Thank you."

"Love," Jude says, staring straight into my eyes. "They won't move you until they know how dilated you are. Do you want me to do it or them?"

"You need to know so we can go immediately," Dexter says. "But I mean… it's your choice."

"Do it," I whimper.

Oakley tips my head so I don't have to see anything that's going on. I cry into her shoulder as her hand wraps around my head.

All I feel is air flying to bits that should be hidden… then pressure. So damn much pressure. I bite my lip to keep from crying out at the pain, but I let the tears fall.

Some people could probably face this, but not me. Not at this moment.

"All right, darlin'," Walker says, plucking off his gloves. He rubs a bare finger over my cheek. "We're getting you out of here."

Two guys pop into the room. One has a badge hanging around his neck. He's got a big black bag over his shoulder. He immediately makes a bee-line for me. The other is also in SWAT gear, and he stands by the door.

"Thank fucking God," Dexter whispers, kissing my cheek.

"You're going to be okay," Oakley says, squeezing my arms. I'm still all up on her chest.

Jude steps away, arguing with the SWAT medic too low for me to hear. The guy shakes his head. Jude crosses his arms, nodding.

"I've done this before," Jude hisses. "Have you? Because I have twice." He holds up two long fingers. "Once during a national disaster response deployment—" He sees me watching, and they turn their backs, arguing in hushed tones.

This is all a fucking nightmare, it has to be. The pain takes over again, and I know I'm not lucky enough to wake up from this bad dream.

The ambulance hits a bump. The jolt goes through my entire body, and I wail. No joke, I feel like the baby has a ring of knives surrounding their head. I have no idea how women do this without medication.

"Eyes on me," Jude says.

I can't look at him right now. I'll never be able to make eye contact with him again. We can't recover from this. I know I'm being dramatic, but also this is really fucking traumatic.

"Now, Love," Jude barks.
