Riggs frowns, taking us in. He only pauses for a second before stomping over and asking, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I assure him.

"No powders, liquids, or other substances on the box or its contents?" Walker asks, sticking his head in the door. He's much less pushy, keeping his distance instead of shoving his way in.

"Not that I noticed," I say and my voice cracks.

My head shakes back and forth as I think about what could have happened. I'm pregnant. I made a very poor choice. There's no excuse for it.

Dexter holds me tighter and Riggs crosses his arms over his chest.

"You need a house," Riggs says, frowning. "Why the fuck do you live in a hotel?"

"What?" Issac scoffs, glaring at Riggs.

"You're going to have a kid. Where do you plan to put it?" Riggs growls. "You need security. That's easier in a house or apartment."

"That's not your business, dude," Dex says, pushing up on his forearm to frown at Riggs. My neck twists at an uncomfortable angle and Dex frowns. "Sorry, Baby." He lies back on the bed.

"You're okay?" Walker asks, eyeing me carefully.

"I'm good," I assure him.

"Let's take this back out there," Walker barks. All of us blink at him. He frowns, rubbing at the back of his neck. "Love needs rest. Not to listen to bickering or have any stress added on to an already stressful experience. We'll continue this in the living room."

Issac nods. Riggs sighs.

Before they leave, Riggs takes the final step to my side. He brushes scratchy, callused fingers over my cheek. His fresh pine scent fills my nostrils as he pushes hair back from my face.

"I'm really fucking glad you're okay," he says. "We're going to handle this shit. Don't stress. It's not good for you or the baby."

I give him a shaky nod. "Thanks, Vince," I whisper. He nods and turns to follow the other two out.

Resting back against Dexter's chest, I notice he's busy glaring at the wall.

"He's right, ya know?" Dexter sighs. "Kids need space. Issac and I are fucking up."

"You're not. We still have time before the baby comes," I say, running my fingers over the few fine blond hairs on his pec. I snuggle in closer.

It might be masochistic, but I really fucking miss cuddling up, watching cheesy horror movies and bad telenovelas with him.

"We all know Issac is going to end up being the dad," Dex whispers, sounding so damn dead inside that I almost burst into tears again.

"We were having just as much sex back then as Issac and I were," I remind him.

It's really difficult to tell if he's hopeful the baby will end up being his. Or if he's trying to niggle out of any responsibility.

"Yeah," Dex agrees, letting out a heavy sigh. "Get some rest. I'll stay with you."

"Thank you."

Dexter rolls to face me. "If the baby is mine, you need to know I'm not going anywhere." He brushes his lips over my forehead. "You guys might notneedme, but I won't be like my dad."

"Dex…" My voice comes out a breathy whimper, and I hate it. "Biologically your kid or not, we would never cut you out."

Not unless it became a safety issue for the kid, but that isn't what Dexter needs to hear right now.

I won't use a baby to try to force a relationship. It also really fucking hurts imagining him bringing other people around, but I'll survive it like I survive everything else.
