"Yeah," Issac says, grinning. "And don't try to join in,unlessLove explicitly invites you."

"You'd be fine if she did?" Riggs asks, scoffing. His eyes sure study Issac closely, though.

Issac shrugs. "She's my girl, not my kid. I don't control her. I'd like to see someone try. The thing about Love is the harder you push her, the harder she pushes back. You'll see what I mean." He smirks.

"She's not nearly as uptight as Kitten, and she's much more capable of taking care of herself. Don't even try to compare the two," Dexter adds, then pats me on the chest again as he walks by. "All right, cool. Good talk. We'll see you upstairs."

They turn and leave without another word.

"What the fuck did we just sign up for?" Riggs asks, shaking his head and staring at the ceiling. "See what I mean? That fucker is up to something."

"Maybe he gets off on watching?" I suggest.

Did I really just say that sentence out loud? What is my life coming to?

"Who the fuck knows?" He sighs. "But there's something about her that draws me in more than anyone I've ever met. More than any fucking omega I've ever smelled."

"Me too," I agree, nodding.

This might be the best thing to ever happen to us. Or it might be a giant cluster fuck.

I guess only time will tell.

Chapter Five

Baby Love McKinley

Istare down at my phone, reading the text. Re-reading it doesn't magically change its contents. Blinking at the screen is also ineffective at changing what it has to say.

My dad is a real piece of work. No 'congratulations, I'm excited to be a grandpa'. Not a word asking how I am. Basically it amounts to, 'I'm sure you've heard, but I'm running for Senate this term. Don't embarrass us, talk to the press, or be seen in public with those rock stars you collude with'.

There was a lot of chatter when he left office as the governor a few years ago. Everyone expected this. I'm sure he's known for a long time that he'd be running.

I didn't even warrant a phone call.

And for the record, I absolutely didn't know because I purposely avoid reading any press about him.

I don't agree with the bullshit conservative family values he spearheaded his last campaign on. Why would I subject myself to the specifics this time? He's never going to change. If anything, he's gotten more vile over the years. I'm nothing more than an embarrassment to him.

"You didn't watch the next episode ofUnbiddenwithout me, did you?" Jude asks. He peeks over the back of the sofa and looks at my phone.

It's been weird as hell having full-time live-in security. Ever since we got the package a few weeks ago, tensions have been high.

Walker and Riggs moved from Kitten's security to keeping an eye on me. Personally, I don't see much need for round-the-clock protection, but I do appreciate the sentiment, considering her stalker still hasn't been caught.

"Are you reading spoilers? What's that frown about?" Jude asks, taking a seat next to me on the couch.

Jude's tall, muscular frame takes up a considerable amount of space. His t-shirt looks stretched to capacity with all of his muscles making themselves known as he leans back.

"Are you kidding? I never read spoilers." I scoff, swallowing the lump in my throat.

Okay, I'm actually pathologically lying about that. I'm awful. I don't watch a series until there are enough reviews out that I can snoop around and see if it has a happy ending.

I'm a sap. I don't even play around with that kind of thing. I need to know the characters I'm rooting for are going to end up in a good place. This has gotten exponentially truer as my pregnancy goes on.

I need to see the characters get their happy ending.

"All right, I'm here. Let's do this," Jude says, tossing his long legs up on the coffee table. He's wearing dark jeans and leather flip flops. There's something about the combination that really works for him. It's that California beachy surfer vibe, but he's got a Southern accent… it all just really works for him.
