I blow out a heavy breath, trying to get my hormones under control.

He's hot and a really great guy, but he's an alpha—meaning nothing good can come from checking him out.

Being a beta really sucks sometimes.

I toss my phone down, shaking my head. Nothing good comes from obsessing about my family either. I know that all too well.

It's much better to get sucked into the make-believe world of Northern Falls. Watching their ridiculous drama makes me feel a whole lot better about my life in general. Granted, it's a telenovela, but it sure helps my life seem a lot less dramatic.

"Darlin', don't cry." Jude pats my arm, giving me a soft smile. "Bastien is gonna be fine. Obviously he either escaped the plane before it crashed, with a parachute or something. Or it won't be as dramatic as it seemed on screen."

"It exploded in a fiery ball of flames." I scowl, sniffling.

"He's fine. I promise," Jude says. His eyes dart away. He looks sketchy as hell.

Turning my whole body toward him, I jab a finger at his chest. "Why do you look guilty?"

Jude clears his throat. His tan hand flies up to his neck. He starts rubbing like he's working out a knot.

"Jude?" I ask, tilting my head to study his face.

"I may have accidentally seen a few short spoiler clips." He chuckles awkwardly.

"What?" I hiss, shoving his chest.

Jude is actually blushing. My lips part as I study him. He's so damn cute. For being one of the hottest guys I've ever seen in person, he's not overly full of himself or cocky. It's actually incredibly endearing. My stomach flutters.

He clears his throat. "Okay, I intentionally watched a recap video of the episode we just watched and the next one. Only because my sister also watches it. I saw a post she made on social media and I didn't want you to be upset."

Jude swipes a hand over his face. His large silver watch face glints in the low light. His tan muscular forearms flex as he moves. The veins on the back of his hands and arms stick out. It's a strange thing to find attractive, but I do.

Refocusing my attention on his face, I swallow.

My heart feels like it's about to beat out of my chest sometimes when I look at him. And that was an incredibly sweet reason to read spoilers.

"He's going to live?" I ask, swiping at my tear-covered cheeks.

"Yeah, he's going to live." He gives me an indulgent grin. His warm hand wraps around my arm, pulling me toward his chest. He's very cuddly sometimes.

The tender affection and calming comfort are unique to him. I've never met another alpha that acts like he does. Whenever I'm around him, I feel at peace. It's this feeling like I don't have to worry or stress, because he's got everything under control.

I've always been attracted to a certain type of guy. The ones who buck the rules, have that undefinable swagger, and the sex appeal that only comes from a guy you know is gonna break your heart.

I've danced that dance a few times. I never quite learned my lesson either, considering I let myself fall for Dexter.

I'm going to stop being one of those stupid fools who is attracted to the broken guy.

What's really hot?

The reliable good guy who calls when he says he will, doesn't have to apologize for getting caught in a lie, and never flakes out on his responsibility.

That shit is incredibly attractive.

Jude starts the next episode. We watch until my eyes get heavy, I'm nodding off when he lifts me, carrying me to bed. His spicy citrus scent is all up in my nose as he puts me on the bed next to Issac. I lie on my side, facing the door as Issac sniffs.

Jude closes the bedroom door.

"That guy has got it bad for you, Baby Love," Issac mumbles, sliding his warm hand across my stomach.
