Then again I kinda do, because I know Issac won't do anything that close to my due date without a gentle push.

"Are you sure?" Dex asks. His tattooed fingers brush over my cheek as he pushes my hair away from my face. His blue eyes are so serious as he searches my face.

"Yeah," I agree. "It's not a big deal."

"You guys can say no," Rook says, eyes bouncing between Issac and Dexter. "Honestly, no hard feelings. My dad thought you might want to perform with us. I completely understand if you want to skip it." He looks me dead in the eyes. "Honestly, you're really fucking pregnant. None of us would blame you if you don't want them to do the show. At least not the one right before your due date."

"Thank you," I say, waving a hand through the air. "It's fine. I can stay back and skip that show if I'm getting too close or don't feel well."

"Nah," Issac says, shaking his head. He crosses his arms over his chest. "It's too close to your due date. I'm not risking it. I won't miss out on being there when our baby is born. Not for anything."

"Agreed," Dex says, stretching over and intertwining our fingers. "It's not important in the grand scheme of things."

I swallow thickly, glancing away. My chest feels tight.

Pasting on the most realistic smile I can muster, I grin over at Rook.

"It's less than an hour away," I say, squeezing Dexter's hand. I catch Issac's eyes. "Even if I went into labor while you guys were on stage…" I roll my eyes. "They say women labor for entire days sometimes with the first pregnancy. It's for an excellent cause. You guys should do it."

"Lyric isn't performing with us," Rook tells us. "After that mini-tour, I doubt we'll get her back on stage any time soon. She'll be able to stay with Love while you're on stage. I completely get where these guys are coming from, though."

Rook hands a pile of papers to Issac.

"The fans ate up the crossover during the memorial tour. We could even set it up so you guys go first. Then we could do the dirty double feature. 'Darkest Nights and Dirty Habits' along with 'Dirty Delights' with Matted Whine and Ruin on stage. Then you guys can be done and Ruin will perform last. Doesn't matter, it's just an idea."

Rook waves a hand. "Talk it over and get back to me or my dad. There are several shows over the summer and into fall. Right up until Election Day. You guys don't have to participate in all of them." He shrugs. "The info is in the paperwork. Just let me know if you want in."

Rook comes over, pulling me up off the couch. "All right, bring it in." He hugs me.

My eyes widen. Rook is not a very huggy kind of guy. Except with Kitten.

Issac chuckles behind his fist. I'll bet my face is all kinds of confused.

"This is from Lyric," Rooker says, patting me awkwardly. "She was pissed as hell not to be coming over with me, but she's still dealing with the fallout of the suppressants. She made me promise to give you one hell of a hug."

Issac rolls his eyes. Dexter lets out something between a cough and a snarl. He looks shocked; his face is bright red.

Rook backs up, palms raised.

"Sorry, man, I was the Lyric stand-in. That's all." Rook laughs. "I was not about to make it back over there, only to get turned away at the bedroom door because I forgot to do what I promised."

"We good?" Rook asks Dexter.

Dexter clears his throat. "Yeah, we're good."

Rook and Dex do a weird bro hug before Rook turns to Issac and they do the same.

"All right," Rook says. "I'm out."

"It's for a good cause," I say a while later.

I'm sitting just inside the living room of the penthouse. The guys are on the patio, smoking a blunt.

Dexter blows a huge cloud of smoke out his nose.

"We've already got a huge fan base," Dex says, passing the blunt to Izzy. "It's not like we're at that stage where we have to do all these performances just to get our names out there."

"Agreed," Issac says, nodding. "Why are you so stuck on us doing this show?"
