"You're going to have a conversation with your father or you're going to jail," officer number two says.

"I guess I'm going to jail," Love says with a heavy sigh.

She tosses her wallet at me with her free hand.

"Use the red card, it links to my savings account," Love says, frowning. "You know the pin."

"Bail us out," Dex says, looking at me.

"Dex, no!" Love hisses.

I move to grab him… but he's already pivoting towards the cops.

Luckily, I catch him by grabbing a big ass handful of his hair. I yank him to me before he can make contact with one of the officers.

Fucking dumb-ass. What the hell is he thinking?

The cops don't care that he never made contact. They pounce, putting him in cuffs. His face is scratched to hell by the time they yank him up off the pavement.

"Dexter," Love whimpers, her face a mask of pain on his behalf.

"I'm good, Baby." Dex smirks.

He's quite used to this song and dance.

Love looks absolutely heartbroken, though. My chest feels like someone's sitting on it. Fucking hell.

Watching the way Love cares for Dex gets me in the gut. Dexter Clark has no one. I mean, he's got me, but that isn't much.

Staring at Love's bright red nose as tears pool in her eyes, all from watching the cops manhandle Dex… it finally breaks through my thick skull.

I'm in love with Baby Love McKinley. No motherfucking doubt about it. This chick owns me.

It's a hell of a realization to come to as she's being hauled off by the cops for not even committing a crime. Fuck her father. I guess to him, colluding with trash like Dex and me is a crime.

"What the shit is that about?" Riggs grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest and nodding to the door.

I almost laugh. He's jealous as fuck he's not in Dexter's spot.

"I guess they're bonding." I shrug.

Riggs frowns, running a hand through his short hair. The big black watch on his wrist catches the hall light.

I've always been a kinky fucker. Sharing Love with Dex has always made for a delicious treat. But more than that, I want her to have support.

Seeing Kitten's pack come together has been eye-opening. Having a solid foundation of people around to love and care for Love and our baby is what I want most. If, God forbid, something happened to me one day… I'd know she was okay. She'd hurt and grieve, but she wouldn't be alone like my mom was.

"Do you plan on waking them?" Riggs finally asks, scratching at his jaw.

"Love doesn't get much sleep these days," I tell him. "She'll join me when she's ready."

"Want to work-out?" Riggs asks, shrugging.

I laugh. "Careful, man, I think we're testing the line of becoming friends."
