Page 14 of Kane’s Truth

Taylor’s words got Mitch’s attention immediately.

Wait, what?

What the hell is going on…

Before Taylor could begin his first lift, Mitch had an urgent need to know more.

‘Exactlywhere did you see Kane, bro?’ Mitch said, urgency in his voice. ‘I need to know. Something’s not fucking right here.’

‘Don’t worry, I’ll fill you in later, Taylor. For now, just answer Mitch,’ Chopper said, knowing that Mitch would want to get over to Kane as fast as he could.

Taylor duly gave Mitch the exact location and wished him well.

‘Take care bro,’ Taylor said, a look of concern on his face.

‘I will, and thank you again,’ Mitch replied, his mind already working at a million miles per hours. ‘Catch you guys on the flip side.’

For Mitch, the only thing that mattered now was getting across town and hoping that Kane was still at the same location. Nothing about this situation made sense, and if it was the last thing he did Mitch was going to make damned sure that he would get to the bottom of things.

Mitch exited the gym and hurried over to this truck. He placed the key in the ignition and rapidly swung the truck around and pointed it in the right direction. There was traffic on the road but Mitch wasn’t about to let that stop him. He was a good driver, and he was determined to use all of his skills to get to Kane’s location.

‘Okay, let’s fucking move,’ Mitch growled, pressing his foot down on the gas.

It was time to find Kane.

And it was time to find out precisely what had happened earlier that had led to his cutting and running. Mitch had questions that needed answering, and he was determined that this was going to get resolved one way or the other.

Whatever Kane’s truth was, Mitch was going to find out.

Being a Daddy wasn’t easy, but Mitch wasn’t going to go down without one hell of a fight. That wasn’t his style, and he wasn’t about to go changing that now either.

But what would he find if – no,when– he located Kane?

Chapter 9

Kane looked around him. He wasn’t happy. Nothing was going the way he wanted it to. The way his life had turned 360-degrees so quickly was just horrible, and Kane was all out of positivity.

The sun was beating down on Kane, but whereas this was normally something to be happy about it certainly wasn’t doing the trick this time. If anything, the sun was making Kane even more miserable. Usually, the sun meant fun times on the beach with his Little friends or his Daddy.

But fun in the sand seemed a million miles away.

Kane was struggling to stop himself from crying. It was all goingsowrong for him. After packing his backpack and hopping on his cycle, he hadn’t managed to even get out of Cape Daddy before riding over a stray piece of broken glass and bursting his front tire.

Why me?

This is why I should never bother trying at all…

Nothing ever goes right for me!

It felt like Kane was running out of options.

Nothing seemed like it was falling in Kane’s favor and he had a feeling of dread creeping up inside him from the pit of his stomach.

Kane was crouched down and cowering behind a large SUV. His front tire was beyond repair. Kane had a puncture repair kit, but it turned out to be a toy set that was meant for play use only.

‘Typical!’ Kane said, cursing the pretend repair kit and brattily tossing it down onto the floor. ‘Poo!’

Things weren’t showing any sign of improving, and Kane was beginning to wonder just how bad they could get.
