“Aurdyn,” I barely manage to turn my head to him. “Where are we?”

“Freyja.” He moves to my side, and quickly takes my hand. “We are in Florin.”

“Florin?”

“You almost died.” I turn toward a woman’s voice and recognize my cousin Grayce right away.

“Grayce.” I smile. “It’s been so long.”

“Too long, cousin,” she says, a sad look on her face.

Memories flood my mind and I inhale sharply as I turn my attention back to Aurdyn. “My uncle? Is he safe?”

“I am here, my child,” he says, and my breath catches in my throat. “Your Dragon husband sent for me while you were recovering.” He takes my other hand and squeezes it gently. “You save me, Freyja. You save all of Ruhaen, my darling niece.”

Another man walks up behind him, and I gasp when I see the flash of his beautiful purple wings. Sunlight catches on his silver hair, highlighting the lavender color of his eyes. He is Fae. “I am King Kyven,” he says. “I am the one who helped treat you. I would like to assess you now, if I may.”

I nod.

Aurdyn looks to everyone else. “Give him space,” he demands. “Leave the room so he can work.”

Kyven’s lips quirk up and his eyes flash with barely restrained amusement. “Your Dragon can be quite demanding,” he teases. “But I am certain you already know this.”

Aurdyn growls at him.

“Stop it,” I say weakly. “He helped us. You should be nice to him.”

Kyven tips up his chin, while Aurdyn narrows his eyes. “Very well,” he grumbles.

Kyven’s hands hover over me as he assesses my condition. When he reaches my abdomen, his brows tick up toward his forehead. “This is interesting,” he muses.

“What is?” Aurdyn is instantly on alert. “Tell me,” he growls. “Now.”

“She is carrying your fledgling.” Kyven smiles. “It is a—”

“Son,” I finish his sentence.

“Yes, how did you know that?”

Tears sting my eyes, as I reach a trembling hand up to Aurdyn, and touch his face. “Because my love told me when he came to save my life.”

Aurdyn turns his face into my hand, pressing a tender kiss to my palm. “You remembered.”

I nod.

He drops to his knees and presses a tender kiss to my abdomen as I run my fingers gently through his silver-white hair. “Do you think he’ll have wings?” I ask, a bit worried that our son will be born wingless because of me.

“Of course, he will,” Aurdyn says proudly. “His father is a Dragon, not some pitiful human male.”

I laugh at his arrogance. “Yes, but—”

“I have seen it, my T’kara.” His expression softens as he cups my cheek. “It was the vision I was given by the heart tree.”

A tear slips down my cheek, but he quickly brushes it away. He presses his lips to mine in a tender kiss.

Kyven clears his throat and Aurdyn growls low in his chest. “Leave us before I set fire to your perfect hair, Fae King.”

I give him a pointed look even as a smile threatens to break out across my face. “You cannot go around threatening everyone who upsets you, Aurdyn.”

“It is instinct,” he says. “Especially when one’s mate is nesting.”

He crawls into the bed with me, slipping beneath the covers. He loops an arm around my back and pulls me to him, wrapping me up in his arms and wings. “Besides, I want to be alone with you,” he whispers. “I thought I’d go mad waiting for you to awaken. I was so afraid,” he admits. “You are my heart, Freyja.”

“And you are mine.” I whisper against his lips. “My wonderful, arrogant, Dragon king.”
