“That means nothing.” Jayna pulled out a grape from the bowl Danika held and popped it into her mouth.

“I’m pretty sure I picked up on the same clues as our big brother.”

“I highly doubt this. I see Devani naked. You don’t.”

“And you call me the PITA.”

“No, I call you PITA1.”

“Hold up. Hold up.” Jayna’s agitation brought a smile to my lips. “Someone needs to bring me into the loop, now.”

“Devani is pregnant,” I stated as fact.

Deep in my gut, I knew it was true. Too many things over the last few weeks brought me to this conclusion, and I had no doubt after tonight.

I’d noticed the subtle changes in her body, especially her fuller breasts. First from a distance in her gowns and then up close over the last two nights.

But it was the tears that had my mind churning with suspicion.

In the nearly three years we’d spent together, I’d seen her cry once, and that was when she’d recounted the story of her parents’ and brother’s deaths. And she’d only allowed a few tears to fall before she pulled the pain and heartache back into that box of hers.

Then in the last few days, I’d seen her lose her ability to hold it in. First, when I’d found her after meditating, then tonight during sex, and then her broken-down sobs in the passageway.

She wasn’t a woman to ever let emotions push her.

Ever.

Where I pretended to feel nothing, she slowed her ability to process emotions so much that nothing could penetrate her shields.

“Did she tell you, or is this a guess?” Jayna asked the question to both of us, but I knew she directed it at me.

“She hasn’t even realized it yet.”

“Then how can you even know for sure?”

“Let’s say he’s very observant when it comes to the director. They share a special kink that requires it.” Danika lifted a defined brow.

I glared at Danika. “You really are a pain in the ass.”

“That doesn’t prove anything,” Jayna insisted.

“Maybe.” I shrugged. “However, in the next week, she’ll figure out her trusty shot failed her.”

I could almost see her blaming it on her cycle fucking with her or coming down with a bug when she never came down with an illness. But she’d know what really happened.

“For a man determined never to reproduce and pass on Shah’s tainted genes, you sure are taking impending fatherhood like a champ.” Jayna sat up, leaning forward. “Unless you aren’t the father.”

I narrowed my gaze. “The baby is mine.”

The way we felt about each other, the connection we shared, wouldn’t allow us to turn to anyone else.

“And?”

“And what?”

“You called us here for a reason, Sam. You need to come clean. Devani may be having a child you never wanted.”

“It’s not my decision.”
