“We will get to that.”

Kir glared at me.

Nik stepped between us and said, “You make the call on this deal. This is your game. We’ll support what you decide.”

Before he put the decision on me, I had to let them know about Devani’s motives.

“You do realize she’s working a case and using us to manipulate her plans?”

Rey moved next to Kir, pulling him back against the wall where he leaned. “Van wouldn’t have the reputation she does if she wasn’t two steps ahead of everyone. Remember, I was a victim of one of her brilliant maneuvers not long ago.”

“You walked right into it like a chump,” Kir reminded him.

“I got the girl in the end, so that’s all that matters.”

“You weren’t so calm about it at the time.”

I still remembered the day he’d come back from an assignment and found Danika’s new art appraiser working in the gallery. Devani had maneuvered Lilly into a job without letting anyone know she was Rey’s ex.

To describe it as a clusterfuck was an understatement.

“Let’s say time has given me a different perspective,” Rey mused.

“Meaning?”

“Her motives for her ulterior plans are never about herself. In fact, she rarely considers her safety. If she did, she wouldn’t take half the risks she does.”

“Do you know something?” I asked.

“I know a lot of things. My question is, does it matter if you have all the answers? Your woman is here, needs us to assist her, and you’re the one who gets to make the call.”

“If you even think about saying she isn’t your woman, I swear to God, I’ll punch you in the face right now.” The anger in Kir’s voice and how he clenched his fist made me pause.

He knew about the baby.

“Can I assume Jay told you?”

“Our wives kept the information from us. Not very fair to use their love for you to hold secrets.” Nik leaned back against a desk. “We only know because we walked in on a conversation they were having.”

I turned to Rey. “And does Lilly know?”

“She suspected weeks ago. She said something about testing fate and inevitability, but I hadn’t taken it seriously.”

“And you didn’t think to give me a heads-up about it?”

“What did you expect me to say? Hey, jackass, you know how my wife believes in all the woo-woo, fate stuff. Well, she says since you don’t wrap it up, she thinks you knocked up your spy girlfriend.”

“You’re an asshole.”

“Who’s the asshole for keeping us in the dark?” Rey folded his arms across his chest. “We’re your brothers. Did you think we wouldn’t have your back?”

“What could any of you do when I have no control over this?”

Everything in my gut said the meeting tonight revolved around the pregnancy.

But what would she say?

I’d spent so much time telling her I never wanted children. Would she believe me if I told her I wanted our child?
