I held my hands up in a gesture of surrender as I moved into the room. “I’m not going to hurt you. I owe you a debt for caring for Jayna and Danika when they were young.”

“They were children.”Kala watched me, wariness still in her gaze.“We did what we could.”She dropped her head and wrung her hands.“Sometimes, it wasn’t enough.”

“Jayna would disagree. Can I ask why you reached out today? You could have called us long ago.”I took the seat across from them.

Nimesh answered, “Sir has information on your family.”He paused as if trying to gather his words. “He is part of something we cannot condone.”

“That doesn’t answer my question. Why today?”

“It is no longer safe for us in that house. He made threats to the staff and had our rooms searched. He believes all of us are traitors. He said we helped the Patel brothers sell him out to you. The other things I won’t repeat.”Anger radiated from Nimesh.“After all these years of service, he treated me as if I were garbage.”

“Did he find anything in your room?”

“No. When we learned Sir’s secret, I started sending things with my children when they visited.”Kala picked up a satchel, opened it, and pulled out a phone. “This is the only item we have ever stolen from him. At this point, it no longer matters if he tracks it.”

“May I?”I asked, reaching for the mobile.

“Go to the pictures. They will tell you all you need to know. The information on the Circle of Ten, the horrible things they do, your family, your history, and your brother.”

“Brothers,”I corrected.

Kala shook her head.“Not the Kings. You and Jayna have a brother.”

A little aftereleven in the evening, I made my way into the dressing lounge of the theatre room at the Andhi New York City. This was the crown jewel property in the hotel division of Shah International. The place where the Shah legacy in the United States had started.

Even forty years after its grand opening, it was one of the prime hotels in the city, with impeccable service and old-world style. And only a handful of people knew every inch of it belonged to someone other than Ashok Shah.

Soon it would be in the rightful owner’s hands. But then again, new secrets would come to life: Neil, Sam, and Jayna, three siblings born out of so much tragedy.

I dropped my head.

How the fuck was I going to ensure it now?

No matter what, I had to see this through. It would happen even if I wasn’t the one to pull the trigger. The bastards would die.

I’d get Sam his revenge. I’d get Neil his revenge.

When I heard footsteps approaching, I adjusted the bracelets on my wrist, deactivating the microchips designed to record and send conversations to the central data collection center. Then as a backup, I set my clutch on a dressing counter and activated a scrambling device designed to block all communications in and out of the room.

“This conversation must be super secret if you are getting all high-tech.” Sam entered from the room’s shadows, wearing dark pants and a button-down gray shirt rolled up at the sleeves.

He should have looked out of place in such an elegant room and with me in a formal gown, but he fit in. As if he owned the place.

“It’s important and needs to remain a secret.”

“That sounds ominous.” He moved closer to me, then paused when I started backing away. “If you’re here to tell me we can’t see each other, save your breath. The rules are we fuck and go our merry way. If you decide to stop hiding, you know where I am. I’m no longer investing anything more than necessary in whatever this is between us.”

I closed my eyes for a brief second and then said, “What I’m about to say is to inform you only. You made your feelings on this situation clear a long time ago.”

“Go on.” He watched me as if he were a predator ready to pounce. “I’m a big boy. I can take anything you throw my way.”

“I’m pregnant.”

The air in the room stilled as if frozen in place.
