“Quick question first: You said you want the friendship to continue. What about the orgasms?”

Heat runs down my spine again at the memory of his hard cock pressing against my ass. “That’s a solid maybe. On my end. I have no idea what he’s thinking because I all but bolted once it was over. Does he regret it? Is he going to be weird now? Will we even be friends, or did he get what he wants out of me, and now he’s not interested anymore?”

He hums, thinking through my billion and one questions. “You know who would have answers for you?”

“Who?” I ask, perking up at the thought.

“Ford, you idiot. You’re how old? Go home, get some sleep, then call him in the morning. Or go and see him. Talk this shit out. You’re allowed to have feelings about everything, and he’s gotta expect that after what happened. Maybe he’s right there with you, maybe he doesn’t give a fuck now he’s spilled a load, but sitting here and stressing about it isn’t going to help.”

“How are you still single?”

He pumps his eyebrows. “Why? You interested?”

“Not even a little bit. Sorry, but one guy is more than enough man trouble for me.”

“They always are.”

“Seriously though. You have all this …” I gesture around the enormous house. “And you’re a cool guy. Why aren’t you all loved up?”

Something flits behind his eyes. “I’m waiting on the right man.”

“Man? Not woman?” As far as I know, Keller’s pansexual.

“We’ll see, I guess.”

The front door slams, and I nearly jump out of my seat. “Who—”

“Dad? We’re hungry!”

Keller lets out a long, controlled exhale. “There’s pastries in the kitchen.”

“Your son?”

“And his best friend, I’m assuming. Those two are inseparable, I swear.” He raises his voice. “And for some reason, they choose to raid my pantry instead of their own.”

A head pops into the room. And I sayheadbecause the rest of him is hidden behind the wall. “We’re growing boys.”

“You’re twenty-six.”

“Maybe when we’re as old as you, we’ll stop eating so much.” The guy is tan, with sandy-blond hair and what I think might be a hint of Southern twang.

“Go eat and go home,” Keller says.

“No can do. We’re crashing here tonight.”

Keller groans, and the guy laughs before disappearing again.

“Your son?” Even after being friends for years, I know next to nothing about his son except that he’s been away at college.

“Nope. His friend.”

“So …” I don’t know how to ask this. “Are they, you know. Like Heath and Griff inseparable?”

“No.” He clears his throat. “They’re not like that. At all. I’m sure.”

Huh. Okay. I would have thought twenty-six was too old to be all protective papa bear, but what the hell would I know? Your kids are your kids, I guess.

“I’m going to leave you to it,” I say, pushing out of my seat. “Should probably try to sneak in some sleep between the restless turning I’ll do all night.”
