He swats my ass. “I’ll show you promises.”

I glance over my shoulder and wink at him. “I know you will.”

His – no, our – yard is even more crowded than ten minutes ago. Lennon set up a mobile bar in one corner and Gracious, from the diner, has a stand next to him. It’s officially a party.

Feather, Petal, Cayenne, Clove, and Sage hurry toward us.

“One, two, three,” Sage counts off.

“Ta da!” They yell in unison as they open their coats to display their hot pink t-shirts.The Gossip Gals Did It Again.

“You have got to be—”

My words are cut off when I hear someone shout in anger.

“What the hell are you doing here?”

I scan the area to figure out who it is and my gaze lands on Peace. One of the town’s police officers. My eyes widen when I realize who he’s yelling at. Olivia. I should have known. Olivia and the police do not get along.

“What am I doing here? Cassandra is my sister.” Nice to hear she’s claiming me as family at least. “What areyoudoing here?”

I start toward them since I have no desire to spend my money bailing Olivia out of jail but Cedar shackles my wrist to stop me.

“Let them be.”

“But—”

He places a finger over my lips to hush me.

“This is our celebration. They can work their problems out by themselves.”

I stare at where the two are now in a heated argument before blowing out a breath. He’s right. Olivia has managed to not land in prison for the past two years without me. She can handle herself in Winter Falls just fine.

I bite my bottom lip and flutter my lashes. “How do you want to celebrate?”

“Princess, I have a list of ideas. We need a lifetime to work through it.”

“A lifetime? I’m in.”

He kisses the tip of my nose. “I love you, princess.”

“And I love you, Cedar Archer Hansley.”

Saying the words doesn’t cause panic to course through my veins. Quite the opposite. Warmth and happiness spread through me. I’m certain I’ll have moments of panic in the future, but for now, I’m celebrating that future with the man I love.

Police are called pigs for a reason – Olivia’s philosophy on life

Olivia

Please come.

As I stare at Elizabeth’s message contemplating my response, another one pops up with the praying hands emoji.

I bite my lip. Cassandra is pissed at me. Rightfully so. I don’t think she wants me attending her grand gesture party.

You have to start somewhere.
